Guess 16 gb of ram is to little to play this...
Was sitting at 98% of my memory used in task manager O-o

My game using 8 GB RAM, add here browser, discord, steam, Windows, whatever else...

It was using 17GB of my 64GB system was around 28GB total with chrome and other apps. It will definitely use a good chunk of RAM if you have it. Loading is super fast though.

I'm only using 16GB RAM over two sticks. So it might be an issue with your motherboard, or the AGE or GENERATION of yours? I didn't have much issue once I got into the game.

Same issue...

16gb ram not smooth enough to play on high settings. I stick to medium and occasional stutter is gone. Also game uses 7.9 out of 8gb vram.

You are probably running too much background junk. My total RAM usage is 10-10,5 Gb.
But I do agree, for stable performance it is better to have 32 Gb or 24, at least (in flex mode).

I ended up game linking to Playstation for that reason. It's less crashes and lag on console.

The game barely drink ram tho, at max tfd only took 13gb ram and 6 gb vram (on 1080p, i am poor peasant), sidenote: notexturestream parameter doesnt do anything.

It does not in normal conditions, but at some point there will be some VRAM/RAM leak, so ppl will crash. Most common case - after returning to Albion from multiple 400% missions.

Note: i use cinematic setting for texture and shader, however i agree there is some kind of memory leak, you can see your fps drop by couple points after mission. Also about crash returning to Albion it seems there is a problem with shader compilation rather than memory leak, i suspect amd frame generation doesnt play well with nvidia gpu when its compiling shader, turning off amd fg stop any crash (at least for me) but i rarely crash, so i keep the fg on (maybe crash once per week)

You can play with 16, but expect crashes sometimes. Don't have any issues with 24, though. Still debating about 32, because last RAM stick will be too close to cooler and i am not sure that it may fit at all.

Just ran a 400% in Unknown Lab, TFD never crossed 2.5GB... until I landed in Albion where it almost hit 3.8GB (yeah, Albion is the biggest resource hog, if it crashes here, it's almost always the nvidia driver that shows up in the log - shaders most likely) - the GPU on the other paw never crosses 6GB (4090 ultra settings except med high for shadows/draw, DLSS is off, locked to 60fps)

Once I move out of the spawn area (or away from Anais), i.e. other players, TFD is barely over 2GB.

----------

The % memory in Task Manager = % of total memory allocated to apps...

e.g. I have 22% memory usage in TM, but 90 out of 128GB free in ISLC... use P.Exp and it says 99% of memory has been allocated by Windows - M$ knows their $tuff, Windows will tend to reserve all available ram anyway, then parcel it out to make sure apps don't overwrite other apps (isn't that right, Ubisoft's The Division 1... 2... Pandora... Massive's new dev team also knows their $tuff?)

In theory, you can run TFD with just 8GB total system ram. Just don't run anything else, don't let Windows run anything else either but if your total ram is just 8GB... odds are, you have other bottlenecks too
i play on 1080p , RTX 2027s , 16 gig ram win 10, all on high.
