Dude, there's more wrong here that just the devs being wishy washy with how they communicated.
and i quote
" As we continue our live service for The First Descendant, we have no plan to respond by simply nerfing certain content, for any game play which collides with our intentions. We respect every content created by our players and will do our best to create a game that all players can enjoy together for a long time"
also here https://youtu.be/yBU8n2KDWbA?si=9FmavWfj0PJDxBkF&t=1911 (timestamped) their whole talk about freyna also mention their QnA on discord about character nerf. the point was "we will communicate with player and carefully decide what to do" yet somehow that didnt happen, cause if they did, we wouldnt have all this review bomb in the first place.
i personally just want good adjustment, not lazy nerf to make the char un appealing to play. sadly thats what happen with ines.
So it is just "oh no, I was so happy with my OP descendant and now it gets back to a level with the other characters, so I review bomb them now".
And devs said they'll make everyone around Viessa's level and failed to deliver.
here is the situation
1. dev prior to developing ines already knew that "infinite spread" type ability is problematic
source : https://youtu.be/yBU8n2KDWbA?si=9FmavWfj0PJDxBkF&t=1911 i even timestamp the link so you dont need to watch 1h devstream
2. ines adjustment DID NOT tune her infinite spread passive which is the most overtune part of her kit.
3. ines adjustment only makes her MORE ACTIVE skill feels terrible to use.
4. ines 2nd and 3rd is still TERRIBLE despite the changes. she is only used for her 1 and 4 and her passive carry the rest, now her 1 and 4 felt like trash while her passive stay the same.
5. THE NERF DOESNT FIX HER PROBLEM, its only adding more problem, and the reason less ines is played is not because she isnt strong but rather she feels like garbage to play. thats not a nerf thats killing a character. balance and adjustment loss on this one.
6. THEY INTRODUCE EVEN MORE BROKEN CHAR after they knew how powerful ines is after they knew how powerful contagion freyna is.
so all this adds up to the dev looking shady and slimy , they give new char busted power, let people buy and spend time with it, then kill them later to make room for the next one.
Even when rocket spamming gley suddenly became popular, they didn't nerf any of her kit or the rocket launcher. They just add an option to remove the explosion effect in option menu. They was happy to see how people play.
I guess the backlash was coming mostly from old players (what's left of it anyway and then some) that know how the game and devs treats players the way they used to.
There might not of been a verbatim "promise" But it's always been their design philosophy. To create seasonal content to balance out usage, and meta.
They ain't even trying. They just waving the nerf bat around. They never had a season that did this. You can ignore all the inversion powers without effecting game play. You can also ignore all modifiers, without effecting gameplay. They all are just jokes.
Anything that had a "slight" challange, and made you switch up your meta. Was nerfed into the ground, by you guessed it. The same people.
This ain't game development. This is panic.
Heck you can do all of hardmode on any descendant, with out without an activator, and some modules not even upgraded fully. With crappy guns.
Never was a promise, a "no nerf policy", none of it. All made up in the players heads and they'll continue, as we see here in the replies, to twist it however they can to fit their narrative. Not even a nerf. It's a rebalance patch and a damn good one.
It fix alright now no one wants too play Ines anymore so they fix it
https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=QT13kk8HDDo
Apparently Serena is next to be fix how much you want too bet that Blair is going too be broken as well and will get fix later on o.o You are acting like people are still playing Ines as much as they where before the nerf they ARE NOT >_> I dont see Ines anymore so stop acting like muh people are still playing a broken character when clearly no one is when she got nerf too the ground o.o
Hmm, this is a wrong conclusion.
Take a look what happened:
no plan to nerf -> nerf
This simply means: the nerf was done without plan!
P.S.
Ines is still insane, the only difference you have to be smart with her 1st skill now and not just send it through walls. Still all skills spammable like crazy. However with her 2nd skill buffed, you basically nuke everything around you now instead.
But I agree, she felt clunky at first because her whole kit basically bypassed walls (to a degree). I have played a week so far and I got used to it, still clears rooms faster than anyone else. Still can spam 1st, 2nd, 3rd skill and by the time 4th skill ends one stack resets. And this is coming from Ines main, with max cooldown, crit no HP build. o/
Personally for me, 2nd skill now outweighs the 1st one not being able to go through obstacles. So in the end it feels like a buff more than a nerf. Doing even better in Purges too. :]
