Invasions - The death of F2P
Suffice to say, with this update came a lot of cool stuff, but then I started trying to get through it and... I hit a wall.
I can't get past that first invasion mission. The one tied to the story, so you cannot even attempt to do the others until after you beat it. I have several descendants that I unlocked on my own without buying any of them. I got them all up to 40. I gave them level 100 guns, reactors, and components. I did all I can do, but trying to do an invasion solo is just not practical. I've tried all I can with my best/favorite descendants. I gave them the best module builds I could, but the invasion enemies gang up on me and kill me in seconds while it takes longer than that just to continuously gun down a few lesser enemies. No matter how many I shoot at least 2 or 3 are going to reach and hit me. But I can at least get through the first 2 parts with the buttons. But then... we get to the final part against the guy with the color coded shield, the seeker projectiles, and the strong gunner minions. I can last maybe 30 seconds before I die since his seeker projectiles will ALWAYS hit if I'm trying to shoot him from any of the color buttons since NONE of them have ANY cover whatsoever, and if you aren't on the button, his shield stays up, then I die and have to repeat that part from the start so any damage is reset, and then 30 seconds later, rinse repeat. This leads to one conclusion - You cannot complete this as a F2P unless you spend days if not WEEKS unlocking Ultimate Descendants. Why do I say one needs the Ultimate Descendants? Because as of NOW, the enhancements such as Module Capacity expansions and benefits from resetting and releveling do NOT transfer over to Ultimates. In other words, I'd need to hold off all resources until I have an ultimate to get the most out of said resources. Thus, if you're F2P like me, you're stuck when it comes to trying to get through these invasions.

First of all, you're VASTLY overstating the power difference between Ultimate and regular Descendants. It's really not that much. It's certainly not enough to be the difference in beating the mission you're talking about. If you're dying in 30 seconds, that's the first thing I would look at.

It's true, the game doesn't warn the player that enemies do more damage than Colossi! I had 12k health, but it turned out that the boss has an attack that kills me with one shot.

It's not the power difference. It's the investment potential. Tell me, what's the point of investing a bunch of for instance Module capacity expansion items on say, base Bunny, when you have to start over from scratch when you unlock her Ultimate form? If it doesn't carry over it's a waste. Sure, you could just go ahead and invest it all into the base form Bunny, but if you EVER unlock her ultimate form, you get to do it ALL. OVER. AGAIN.

I'm also having troubles to clean the invasions, getting one shot all the time. I really don't have the energy to keep trying or change my build again, I'll try to get the battlepass stuff and see if I continue to play this game.

Oh, leveling up a character once to 40 isn't nearly enough: You need to catalise a module slot which halves cost of modules in that slot. Then you have to level again up to 40. And you have to do this for every module slot. So at least 7 catalyst, 7 times leveling to level 40.

Oh no. Sounds like you didn't realize there's a prestige system in the game and that you need to actually get your best Descendants to level 40 MULTIPLE times for them to be ready for higher level challenges. You need to give them Energy Activators too.

I did the quest missions in one try as regular Ajax, which I've leveled to 40 four times now with weapons I've also leveled multiple times to 40. The actual Invasion dungeon took some time to figure out but once I did that I got the mission done without losing any lives and even finished the second run within the maximum reward time period.

You do the leveling to 40 multiple times by using Crystallization Catalysts on your module slots. This halves the module cost of that slot and resets the level of Descendant/Weapon to 1, after which you need to level it to 40 again before you can apply a new Catalyst in a new slot.

In this way, you can eventually afford a lot of maximized modules and the best combinations for them. This enables you to get through the Hard Mode all the way to the final challenges.

Oh and if all this repeat leveling feels like an enormous slogfest; it isn't if you just go level up in Sterile Lands special operation. It gets you from level 1 to 40 really fast. The weapons too.

I know, but again, that doesn't transfer over to UItimates, so it's pointless to do such investments in base forms. Also something to keep in mind: The big prize of invasions is currently Hailey. Best estimates say if you did the absolute best on invasions daily, it would take 12 days minimal to unlock her. 12 days. To unlock a base descendant, actually no. To unlock being able to research THEN unlock a base descendant about a day later. And you can bet her Ultimate form is bound to be on the horizon. Making this even more a waste of time and resources, but there's more to consider... They want 900 for her in the shop. Yeah... I get it, they want to make that seem more appealing, but if anything this just puts me off even more since it's not just tedious, it's not just unreasonable, it's downright insulting that they'd rig it THIS hard against F2Ps.

And are you prepared to go through AAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAALL that grinding AAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAALL over again with Ultimate descendants when/if you unlock them down the road? That's literally what I was saying about holding back on spending precious resources on base descendants.

hp is nothing if you have no def I roll with 8k hp and 115k def lol

You get some free enhancements (Think it was 2 energy activators and 3 crystal catalysts. Enough for a descendant and weapon of choice) from the mainline quests. Just use them on a base descendant and ultimate weapon... I did for Freyna.

Then you can start the hard mode grind for something better and more resources. If you don't have the time or want to do that like other F2P players then you're better off playing something else.

It's not pointless to do the investments into regular Descendants, some of them are characters which every player needs even though these don't have any Ultimate variants of themselves yet. Like Sharen and Enzo.

If you have skipped investing into these Descendants then you have essentially walled yourself off from some parts of the game, and now this has become apparent to you as you can't complete even the tutorial quests for the new content.

why not just take a break from the game until they release the ult versions of all those characters then? Sounds pointless. Same as with Warframe, dont bother with any frame that isnt an ultimate. Its a waste of like 50 hours of grinding for something that will be useless when the ult version is released.

You can get Hailey Parts if u grind Hard Dungeons. Its random drops but still u can cut those 12 days if u really grind for her. Those Dungeons even provide chances for other things in Game killing colossi. So its actually not wasted to do those missions. Maybe u get even an Ultimate Ajax Character out of it who knows.
And the Ultimate Haley is not on the Horizon. Ultimate Freyna...and the next Update for an Ultimate Character is much later...maybe december and thats for another Character. Probably takes another Year to get an Ultimate for Hailey....people are playing Enzo, Sharen, yujin succesfully...normal Characters are as strong as Ultimates. Like Enzo is a top meta character for colossi at least.
Just invest in normal Characters as long as they can fulfill the job who cares.
I spent a lot on normal Bunny even though Ultimate Bunny existed. But i knew normal Bunny will help me to get things faster.
Later on normal Characters will probably carry over a few things for Ultimate Characters, they already said so in an interview that they think about those things.
Dont hold back with your resources, just spent them and make 1 or 2 Descendants great. If ur not able to do Invasions because u dont own Ultimates...then farm Ultimate Characters first. That content is not running away. Your just not there to do it easily which is fine and another goal for later when u actually progressed.
