Look up which has which crit rate.
20% base and slap on more crit hit modules later especially if your weapons has limited rounds per magazine. Remember the whining about "20%", you need to do/have more runs/hits to have a good crit average...
Non crit weapons, below 20%, like tamer, you can just ignore it and add on more ATK like elemental ATK or you'll be wasting module capacity...
I don't think there are crit rate mods that go up to 50%. I tried slapping all my upgraded crit mods on a 20% assault rifle and it didn't even touch 30% at the end and I'm not about to heavily invest on a weapon solely by its base crit rate.
I usually go for Base/Elem ATK >> Fire Rate/Recoil >> Reload/Rounds per Magz >> Ultimate mods.
You can view your descendant stats in the inventory, whatever the button on the bottom right that says "Go to info".
Though if its not a machine gun, probably investing in a fast reload with crit damage for constant damage would be nice
