Shield is a trap in hard mode
Defense over 20k is a trap
15k minimum and your good to go!
The best defense module is acutally "Autoimmunity"
best survivability is HP all the way!
unless youre playing ajax ofc
Shield and it's scaling on mods, IS horrible compared to HP. Raw numbers just simply suck.
Using a +def% mod while rocking a set that has no innate defence like for example frozen heart, without +def rolls on the gear. Is completely pointless as there's nothing there to amp on your gear. In THAT instance, you'll get much more out of +shield% mods.
Kyle, scales off shield in terms of his magnetic force max and such. Mostly, he's NOT taking incoming damage to his shield though if you're playing him correctly and his clunk isn't getting you killed. So if THAT is what people are worried about, then don't. A lot of the time, it's going to his magnetic force instead via his 3. When it isn't it's usually because you're dropping his 3 to LET his shields get broken. To proc his passive and get a huge boost to his magnetic force and regen those shields back rapidly anyways.
Yujin, scales quite well with shield and improves the value of his teams shields. Because of his healing and regens to himself and squad. Shields are basically just what his overheals go into and are afaic, pseudo brucey bonus hp.
Also, to reiterate what I and a lot of people are saying, from experience in endgame to varying degrees:
Unupgraded immunity mod removes SO much of the damage of collosi elemental damage via dots, that it is immediately noticeable. All for the low cost of six capacity. That and ONE gold roll res is more than enough unless you're running into the patches and facetanking the bosses bursts. Even being immune to freeze, will stop you getting stunlocked and barraged by frostwalker etc.
-incoming damage taken mods, are massively underrated and overlooked by people. If you're at around 30-35k defence and slap one of THOSE on. You may as well think of it like you're immediatley rocking roughly double that in terms of defence.
also her C brings back 10% immediately and starts shield regen during combat (if you have that equip on)
a lot of people dont realize if you look at a descendants profile it has how to build em right there basically. like viessa has prolly the lowest base defense, yet everyone says "build 20k defense"
people STILL using silly mods, like sword and shield whatever that trash module is called "look it gives 98% def and 8% power" (hope i got the trash numbers right lol).
hopefully in the coming weeks more people will experiment with their own builds vs watching some YT vid and say "oh he says i need 20k defense so it must be true".
mobility > HP > def
all the streamers were 100% wrong in their builds the first couple weeks "build resistance" now its "you need 15k defense" (or whatever trash number they got people believing now). yet people STILL listen to streamers instead of experimenting with their own builds
I don't think they're meant to be better than defense or hp in terms of effective HP.
8% power is a nice 0level filler, and it's very good when you realize how it works(generic skill power % increase is a separate multiplier from element specific skill power increase).
For anyone that is not heavily investing in Sharen with catalysts and energy activator just to oneshot a bunch of trash then shield mods are great bang for buck cost-wise, alongside Shot Focus.
He needs to get better but your math is wayyyyyyyy off lol.
some slots on generic parts have lower hp rolls(below 646 iirc)...etc.
for example annihilation set for gley(so anything mp and shield is useless; aux power will be DEF with hp+dbno or something).
overcharged edge actually gives the full dmg buff with only 1 shield(overwhelming hp), it scales off % of shield used rather than raw value. You can put 5 or so levels in both and use sharen with around 2 catalysts, no activator required. Whether you use the ult to one shot mobs or cloak + sr to one phase devourer, shields are almost entirely irrelevant(outside making sure you have that 1 point when you press C). If your luck is just that bad even with hp drops, there is hp collector. One level is sufficient (clock, ult, cloak again; stacked cooldown means ult and passive are off cd when cloak is still up, rinse/repeat).
if you ever feel like you *need* to stack shield on sharen, you're trying too hard to find uses for garbage parts.
Just go farm up enzo...(he's not the only one but iirc he's the easiest one to get)
Yeah the numbers i posted were normal mode pyromanic reductions, Resistances do slightly more damage reduction in Hardmode bossing, however point still stands the antibody mods are a trap. Get the elemental status immunity mod, and a gold roll on the respective component and your resistances should be fine without spending 15 mod points to reduce damage by a relatively low amount.
Aux-fire resist
Sensor-Chill resist
Memory-electric resist
Processor-Electric resist
Gold rolls should be around 4k, and more than enough to reduce damage from things like hard mode pyro fire damage, and the immunity to the DOT will remove about 70-80% of the elemental damage he can inflict.
