FPS Drops
Good evening,

Playing TFD from the beginning, I often have a few small image "jumps" which cause the FPS to drop whether in combat, while navigating the map, etc.

I tried several graphics settings knowing that I did not use the FSR or AMD Frame Gen (see config below). Motion blur is also disabled, I would have liked advice but also settings to make the game fluid and stop these little jerks.

Config:
AMD Ryzen 5 7600X processor
MB MSI MAG B650 Tomahawk WIFI
CG Powercolor RX 6800XT Red Dragon
32 GB of RAM
Screen: BenQ MobiuZ EX2710Q 165hz 1ms IPS panel

By activating FSR in quality or otherwise, I always have these mini jerks which cause the FPS to drop. Knowing that Vsync is disabled, I am in 2560*1440 resolution.

- Should I block the FPS at 144?
- Should I activate the FSR? TSR? or other, because having an RX6800 XT graphics card.
- What is the best graphics preset to play without stutters and enjoy the game?

Sincerely.

Bonsoir,

Config :
Processeur AMD Ryzen 5 7600X
MB MSI MAG B650 Tomahawk WIFI
CG Powercolor RX 6800XT Red Dragon
32 GO de RAM
Ecran : BenQ MobiuZ EX2710Q 165hz 1ms dalle IPS

Cordialement.

I highly suggest locking your fps to 144, the image will look smoother without jumping fps and you'll get consistent input delay. Fsr is really bad in this game and so is tsr. Xess is usually better than native but it has visual glitches

Also do you have the game installed on an SSD, NVME, or standard HD?

NVME can cause the microstutters on Windows 11.
I've extensively explained this in another post.
Especially coupled with a 4090 and or using REBAR.

Try using the MSI utility V3 and set your GPU IRQ to High.

Edit: You can follow most of this if you want, but primarily the MSI part involving the PCI express bus.

I use Process Lasso for setting the game and its anticheat engines and other processes to high. I/O to high.

I also use Ultimate Power Plan. You can google how to set that in windows as well.

The game seems to use more resources when new people join current map or killing mobs super fast causing these issues.
With that said lock FPS at half of your unlocked FPS but do so with Rivatuner, its more stable on a potato pc of mine.

The tips suggested still apply to windows 10, you can ignore the MSI part if you want especially if you don't have an NVME drive.

Most games recommend SSD now as baseline.

HDD is 125 mb/s typically.

SSD is 500 mb/s typically. Almost all modern games recommend at least a SSD.

NVME is ~3200 mb/s typically.

Oh that might be the problem. I'd still recommend lowering some settings as a lot of them just eat up fps with no visible benefit

This is a known in game issue for everyone.

144 FPS is more than the human eye can register, so capping there is fine. the fire rate of guns pretty much maxes out at 120 FPS, so you wont lose any damage.

Below is not for original poster... just to cover my statement.

For those of you that don't understand what i just said about fire rate and FPS. There is a video that goes over this on youtube. Briefly, this games fire rate is tied into your FPS. The only people this will effect are low hardware and TV users that have older or low cost TV's.
By jumping to 120 FPS you will gain about 25% more fire rate on your gun... meaning a lot more damage.
