I'm Conflicted... ( long rant, Warframe Vs. TFD )
this is kind of a mess so skim through as you please.

A New Experience Vs. An Already Established One.
should i risk investing time and money into TFD when something like warframe exists and has over a decade of improvements, content and QoL_

I've put about 70 hours into the game so far, i'm enjoying it a ton. grinding a ton is the name of these types of games. i used to farm for rare weapons back in borderlands 2 as well so the drop rates aren't even an issue to me.

what i am conflicted about is that the fact that warframe exists... and hear me out. yes this game has different mechanics that differentiate it enough from that game some better, others worse. but put simply. most of you guys know issues Nexon has had before with rigged drop rates on things. insane monetization on practically everything. considering Ultimate Bunny's premium edition is 100$ for a game that just came out not too long ago on PC, it's needless to say that is infact an issue. before it's launch apparently you couldn't even buy the specific colors you wanted. you had to roll a wheel. and the system now still isn't great. 25 cents per color you unlock for a specific set of gear that can be used over and over on that one gear. but warframe has entire color pallet's that can be used for and applied to literally anything, as many times as you want. Warframe also has the prime collections that are insanely expensive. but Warframe is a well established game that's looking better than ever right now with the 1990 expansion.

i get it.. both games are free to play and need to make money. but with such aggressive competition it's hard to convince myself to play TFD long term when something that does most of what it offers better, for cheaper.

I LOVE the way guns work in TFD, being able to get a ton of them without having to craft them, keeps the game play feeling fresh, knowing to each new area you go you'll find new weapons to pick up and experiment with. warframe forcing you to craft or buy every single weapon and item you get in that game is what made me bounce of it. even the basics of game play on warframe are monetized. but the prices are significantly cheaper for basic things like the Forma Equivalent. 20$ for an energy unlocker is just insane to me.

look i'm not afraid to spend money here and there when i feel like a game deserves it. and the actual characters in TFD are fairly cheap to get. the colors are also fairly cheap. but why are they so limited on options? there's like 20 different colors of white and a singular non-metallic red. getting single use colors out of the battle pass doesn't really feel good either.

All in All, i'm just not convinced i should spend hundreds more hours on TFD when Nexon is at the helm. they've been doing great with updates and community feedback. buffing things and not just nerfing everyone. they removed the gacha wheel for skin colors as well. if someone has some advice or suggestions on if it's worth sticking with this game for better or worse or simply tough it out with my grievances for warframe. i love alot about TFD, i'm enjoying the story, the gunplay, the characters, and even the grind is fun. but when the micro-transactions are so overly expensive. the skins costing 100$ and locking random back pack items or accessories to the most expensive bundle. which warframe does too with their prime access. i just wanna know if you think it's worth just sticking with the game you enjoy more. or go back to a game that's more established with a more trustworthy dev team. i love TFD, but i don't want to stick around if as soon as this honey moon period ends, they go and stab you in the back and say cough up the dough or you aren't getting any farther. not being able to colorize the default skins feels particularly scummy. getting a recolor skin that we can colorize is cheap. 5$ for a full suit. but why is that a requirement in the first place. Ultimate Bunny's suit should be able to be color'ed shouldn't it? or are they gonna add a recolor of ult bunny too? or just expect you to have bought a bundle or another skin pack. while loosing the ult bunny look entirely if you don't want to use the default color.

What do you think?

Is TFD worth committing too? or is it smarter to go back to something that is already well known and beloved.

I'd say it is never good to "commit" to a game, just play it as long as you're having fun, afterwards, move somewhere else.

That being said, I too agree the prices are a tad too high, but on the other hand, the game is incredibly f2p friendly, I am surprised this is from Nexon, honestly. I already unlocked Gley and almost done with Viessa (ultimate forms), and have not spent a dime. Since am on that note, the premium edition of Gley becomes 2000 caliber cheaper now that I own the character.

Again, this is just surprising it comes from Nexon :)

the Bundles get cheaper if you own the character already? that's super cool honestly if true.

You are over-thinking it.

Just play the one you have most fun with.

For me, that is TFD.

So for me... having over 3k hours in Warframe. Played it on the Launcher before and a Day 1 Warframe Player.

I dropped off from Warframe around 2 years ago, because the Story parts they released made less and less sense and I highly disliked the alternative universe crap they pulled out of their asses, especially the one with the horse. Then they reintroduced the atrocious Prime Resurgence system again and removed the Prime Vaults. Nice greed right there. I was already Legendary 1 at that moment and basically had everything in the game multiple times. But Warframe just got extremely boring. They only released more bulletsponge mechanics and didn't even try to think outside the box to make the overall endgame more interesting. Those are the reason why I quit.

Warframe was completely different during its release and NOT F2P friendly. You never got Weapon or Warframe slots for free. You had to buy them. Getting them for free came only years later.

TFD is much like the same as Warframe was on it's release day. Its rough around the edges and has a few problem here and there. There's clearly not enough content yet to compete with Warframe, which would probably be quite impossible to accomplish with any new game. And yes the monetization is extreme.
But imho TFD does a lot of things better than Warframe. Starting with the semi open worlds and different landscapes. You don't need to teleport back to you ship everytime you complete a mission. The characters and builds have actual variety unlike Warframe. Most of the Frames only play well on a very specific build catering around one or maybe two skills at most. And the Augment mods were and probably still are a joke in the most cases, doing and changing absolutely nothing.
TFD has a better approach to it imo. The skills work well and synergize well within the character kit. There are defined roles for each character, just like in Warframe, but it feels more fleshed out here.
Overall its a fresh and new attempt of the same things.
Yes Nexon has its reputation as you mentioned, and that is still a redflag even for me, but based on the first few patches, I think they deserve the benefit of the doubt for now.

I think to actually answer your question, you need to ask yourself one question.
First of all I think TFD can be a great game, if Nexon works good on it, they have had a solid start with it and they can make this game better. Don't expect it to happen over night. It'll probably take Nexon as long as it took Warframe.
So... can YOU get more content/fun out of Warframe in the case of new story arcs etc ?
If the answer is a "No", then I think you should give TFD a honest try. See how far you can get without spending too much or nothing and see if you like the endgame grinding loop.
I for one, like it.
If your answer is "Yes", then I think you should focus on Warframe and either come back to TFD when it has more content to offer or play it from time to time, doing the same as above.

I hope this is helpfull for you.

WF has been garbage for more than a decade. Cut your losses and move on.

Play either one doesnt matter but are you old warframe player, or do you at least have the basic or have someone to guide you? Do you willing to trade currency on weekly basis at least? If you dont avoid warframe. Those things are what people forget to mentioned about warframe. Platinum is a MUST have. You can get it completely free but that means you are willing to trade a lot. Otherwise you will still have to buy it, you can bypass this by having a veteran giving you the basic item for free. Last time the community is very helpful, i dunno about the current one.

Another thing about warframe that most people here forgot to mentioned is that warframe abuse FOMO a lot. Fear of missing out of the current event. Thats how they locked most of their player based. So be ready. It is the main reason why I avoid that game. I love grinding and that game can be more toxic than TFD.

If you are going to play warframe remember that warframemarket is your best friend. Dont trust anything they said on trade channel. Look for big guild immediately.

Uh... don't commit to a game, Never at any games.

It's just too different game.
TFD is launched recently while 1.0 ignored lots of constructive feedbacks from previous network test, but its recent update movement seems promising as PvE live service. TFD's gameplay isn't that much solid yet, but it's year 0 now. TFD offers asian style characters.

Warframe, on the other hand, most of pay to skip store goods are 5x~10x cheaper than TFD, offering solid enough gameplay stacked up over 10 years, but it's all about western style design with some westernized japanese theme, without cute and/or beautiful woman characters, without K-POP idol-like characters.

You play what you like.
I do play both in very light depth nowadays, if you ask me. Why? Warframe's basic combat gameplay and its quest storyline is still very satisfying for me. TFD? my eyes are satisfied.
