Maybe they were initially planning to have the whole map loaded at once and put more people in it? Or maybe it's a sign for things to come?
The zones used to be one big map, but it ONLY allowed 4 players for the whole map. They closed off the exits to each minor zone, so now 4 players are in each minor zone helping each other out. So like Vespers was one big thing in different "chunks" but only had 4 players for the whole region, now they walled off the exits of the chunks.
Oh, I see. Sad. I was hoping it was a thing for the future, not a relic of the past.
My uneducated guess is console limitations. I'd have loved more people on a bigger map.
Yeah maybe that, but also a lot of the feedback was that we never ran into other players when it used to be 4 players for the whole region. Maybe they could've added more players, but idk how that would work. It's much better now imo, cause at least you can group up with randoms and encounter them more frequently. In beta I would encounter no one doing the same missions as me for a while.
Yeah, what we have is better than 4 people max on a big map. Still, I hope they'll revisit that in the future and find a better solution. Clearly, loading the whole map is already a thing, so maybe they could at least make the transition between zones faster and let us just walk through those gates instead of making it an actual loading screen every time. Like 'phasing' in other games or what it's called.
