Quick question about weapon stats.
So I'm still fairly early into the game I think, I'm in the swamps. What I've been doing up until this point is constantly upgrading my Thunder Cage that I got from doing the side quest. But is it better/preferred to grind the materials to craft a new one? Is there any big difference to crafting a new one than just constantly upgrading the old one I got?

Not as far as I can tell. I do wonder tho, haven't tested but it may be worth rerolling the attached modifiers/perks once weapon is significantly higher level assuming that the stat range that can be rolled improves...

Note that when you craft a new one it's level 1.

You need 5 thunder cages in total to unlock its full ability. Yes you should fully unlock it. Its basically the only gun in the game you need. Further it will help you farm everything else in-game. If you work on a second full unlock gun remember that modules/slot affect every gun of the type. So if you have 2 thunder cages they have the same slot/modules lay out. The only thing different is the 4 option that you roll on the gun itself. For people min/maxing they will probably have 3-5 thunder cages with different rolled stats but thats going to be for the very bored people.

It's good but not the best.

You can spend all that time upgrading it or just grab a Tamer and do everything better.

Not saying to not use TC but it's terrible on bosses , ect.

Tamer really isn't the be all, end all of weapons, they have their flaws too, like a huge aim inaccuracy. For bosses that you should not get close to, Dead Bride in her frost zone being an example, your DPS drops off massively because your rounds spread to hell and back. It's a close to point blank weapon and it shows.

That's what your secondary and tertiary weapon slots are for lol.

The problem with Tamer isn't that it's got high DPS, Its that it outshines every other MG except Enduring Legacy.

The Albion Cavalry Gun has less DPS fully modded than a near naked Tamer with just ATK, Fire rate and an element.
That's how much it overshadows the other MGs.
It's kinda stupid how underpowered the ACG is lol.

Kinda true there. The ACG's shtick is its accuracy but it gave away too much for it. The strange thing is that per shot, the ACG is actually in second place behind the Tamer in terms of damage. If it can "fix" the flaw of a low fire rate, it can actually be competitive with the Tamer. The other MGs have much less damage per round than those two.

upgrade the level and then do a random roll on the stats to bring them up to level. until you have level 100 gear dont worry to much on what the rolls give you, you just want to remove the grey stats.

It's rubbish because of its "gimmick" of boosting damage vs stunned enemies and, stunlocking them. Similar to smithereens, giving itself guaranteed crit if you land all the shells. It's a kyle weapon and a bad one at that.

WHY you would want to be on top of a boss. WASTING high powered rounds on smithereens I have no idea and VERY little can cause the stun status effect to proc ACG.

I... suppose the idea... was/is to use ACG with kyle. His augment mod to make his 1 stun. The braver set and to get a "ton" of free cooldown reduction while mobbing. I would say to throw in veterans tactics to the mix. But I can't reference any of these "builds or strats" and particularly NOT that "ultimate" mod in the current state of the game balance wise in regards sets and such, and... also hold a straight face.

You're going to waste a LOT of resources always upgrading the same item until the end. Less resource draining to use what you loot until you get to a point of less rapid lvling.
