I have been jumping through all the hoops testing FSR and it looks like the Epic option simply performs better in this game AND it doesn't add input latency like frame gen does
Thanks, this brings my CPU down to mostly being in the 45-55% utilization range now (it spikes to 60-70 from time to time when moving around and depending on map) at 2560x1440 with textures increased to high and visibility to medium, everything else low.
I turned VSYNC off because I just got a new monitor with G-SYNC support that runs at 180Hz and I haven't noticed any tearing at all with it off.
Thanks. I tried AMD / Epic and the rest of them but none seemed to reduce CPU usage.
I tried this power plan thing the other day and it had no effect at all, CPU still did whatever it wanted to do and was high but I'm going to try it again and pay more attention to the clock speeds just to see if they do what you said.
I also just got a new monitor that runs at 180Hz with G-SYNC compatibility so I turned v-sync off and I haven't noticed any tearing at all.
My engine.ini was empty. Did yours contain something? Right now all config files aside from GameUserSettings seem empty.
this has more effect as trying to fiddle with the ini.
Okay so people who have already done all their basic computer stuff are wondering why this game performs poorly and others don't: it just came out and is optimized about as well as any other UE5 game that just came out

Some values should be generated after the first time you load the game and exit properly.
It's true that once you have a monitor that does 120hz or better you really don't need vsync anymore. When the screen does tear a little bit it happens so fast you can barely see it
Well yeah it can def use some optimization. But the tip I gave is more so for cpu's that reach temps so high that they start throttling down, impacting performance evenmore. And this game does make your pc,quite hot. Limiting the max % can shave off quite a bit of heat.
I tried this CPU thing at many different settings and it had a massive impact on FPS and overall performance in-game so that doesn't work, at least not for this game. The game becomes unplayable.
This guy doesn't have one iota of a clue of what he is talking about but it's funny to read.
Change it to simple view and then lower Performance Core Ratio. Play. That simple. Christ on a cracker you guys make this look hard.
This actually solved my problem, thank you.
I reduced my Performance Core Ratio from 43x to 39x and now there's no CPU overheating, no noisy fans and no loss in quality. In fact I was able to increase my quality settings.
This has made me super happy, you can use XTU to perfectly finely tune exactly how much CPU gets used.
CPU temp never goes over 65c now.
Do you know of something like this for AMD? I have Ryzen Master...just not sure what the setting would be called. Although, I can certainly investigate lol.
