What is the trick to ripping off parts and what are the keys(to hold on and rip)?

i've tried using grapple, zoom and shoot, but i get thrown off quickly. i know i'm just doing something obviously wrong. thx (the guides i've read just say 'corresponding' key)

I believe its hold RMB to hold on while they try to knock you off
And LMB button bashing when they doesn't do the shake move

it's just left click to attack the part to lower its hp and rip it off, right click to hold on while the collosi is throwing a tantrum and trying to throw you off, simple

It needs to be yellow and then grapple if the intercept is shaking you off hold right click. Left click to attack

Shoot it until it glows yellow then you can hook. Proper ways to hook is to either go from above or get close to it. To Smash it you need to click LMB and to hold you need to hold RMB to not lose a lot of grab stamina. Once a part breaks the boss gets a buff which last for around 10-20 seconds (not sure about the timer) which prevents further hooks, during this time parts that are yellow turn white.
To see if a part is yellow press "Tab" if you hold aim.
The way I do it is, get close, hook onto it, press 1 or 2 times LMB then hold RMB until the boss stops shaking you off and then you can press LMB until it breaks.

Everyone has mentioned how to do it already, the only thing I will add is that the range to grapple a part is MUCH shorter than you would think. Like you need to be right next to him unless you have the long distance grapple mod.

Also aim slightly above the part, to hook to it easier. Often when you aim at the part directly, the hook will hit below it and it seems to be physics based, not targeting based.

No, do not do this, let the grappler break it by him/herself. Shooting a part off only causes a minor stagger as opposed to the stun from punching it. If you get the last hit in with your gun you half wasted the opportunity the grapple gave the team.
