Can't Buy Caliber [Contact Nexon]
Lots of people are unable to, but the fix is super easy. If the window closes after you hit authorize but you still have your wallet funds, it means your account has been flagged for "unusual activity" limited to this game. I found out I could still purchase 5$ caliber pack but not the 100$ caliber pack, steam still let me waste 60$ on tf2 though despite my so-called "unusual activity".

To fix the issue first make a purchase and whenever it fails and you still have wallet funds, go to Steam Support → Purchases → Click on your failed purchase → I need help completing this purchase → Contact Steam Support → Make a Help Request. When making the help request, make sure to ask them to lift the restriction otherwise they will return with "We found some unusual activity on your account and our system has temporarily prevented your account from continuing to purchase items in this game. Please try again at a later time."

Update July 27th

Steam is rapidly sending out Account Restrictions for anyone who attempts to purchase a large quantity of Caliber (roughly 50 USD). They claim they are restricting accounts for "unusual activity", but if you continue reading you will realize this is not the case.

These account restrictions are limited to only The First Descendant, but it means you can't use wallet funds to purchase Caliber on steam. Steam is the only major point of sale for Caliber, and is the entire revenue stream for the game, and it REQUIRES the purchases to be made with your steam wallet. There are other stores like the Windows Store, but who would even use that unless they're on a Xbox.

Here is the bombshell, you can still spend your wallet funds on other games. Despite the "unusual activity" that they are restricting your account for, they will still let you spend your wallet funds on other games. I was able to spend 70 USD on TF2 cases despite this "account restriction" which is how I found out. The account restriction for me only got lifted after I swore at steam support.

It is currently unknown if Steam is doing this on behalf of Nexon or if Steam is trying to strangle Nexons revenue. Bring awareness to this so we can get an answer, contact Nexon support just incase they aren't aware.

I understand your concern but there is no further information we can provide about the temporary restriction and you'll need to attempt your purchase again at a later time.

Because we have provided all the information we have for your issue I'm closing this help request. If you have an unrelated issue please open a new help request and we will be happy to help.

It is really weird this is blocked due to steam. Weird system to pay like this. Hopefully they fix it soon, because I can't buy games in the steam store aswell./

What i dont get is that they temporarily suspend your account. They cannot tell me how long and will not lift the suspension. What a platform. So i cannot buy games, or buy ingame stuff anywhere 😆😂😂

Has anyone managed to solve this problem?
Pocahawtness Jul 22, 2024 @ 1:48am
Not had any problem.

There seems to be some sort of limit on some peoples accounts of around $100. Maybe for various reasons.

After 100+ hours in game, I decided to support the devs and buy some Calibers. Alas, Steam blocked it for me too.

The account suspension should only be tied to The First Descendant. It shouldn't be blocking anything else like the Steam Store and Marketplace.

I thought it was a playtime thing considering I had less than 2 hours, now its even shadier to me.

Just got the same reply about "unusual activity" from dear Lhyn of Steam support. At first, I was trying out some things and accidentally bought the 5 euro caliber, which somehow can go through and isn't unusual. Besides, placing funds into the Steam wallet isn't "unusual" either for some reason. Give me a flappin' break.

Its specifically large amounts of Caliber. You can still deposit into your steam wallet and use the funds on other games, but if you try to buy too much Caliber (seems to be around 50 USD), it flags your account.

But if it actually flags the account, it should block all purchases after that, logically. If Steam finds "unusual activity", they should restrict it and investigate it, not do some selective blocking of certain amounts. Their system makes zero sense heh :)

Should I close the current ticket and try opening a new one? In case I get someone competent in support?

I'd close it, wait 24 hours, and make a new one. Its so shady that it doesn't block transactions up to a certain amount despite the account being flagged. This has made me lose my remaining respect for Steam.
