Both mods are 'Battle' type mods, so we can't stack them. There should be a reason to use the "[_] Master" mod vs the "Focus on [_]" mod.
---
As i was writing this i noticed something odd. All the '[_] Master' mods are 'Battle' type, while 'Focus on [_]' has two different types. Battle Focus has: Chill, Electric, etc. and Attack Focus has: Tech, Singular, etc.
I don't know if this is on purpose or oversight/bug.
While electric specialist gives: electric skill power 81.2%.
I don't have electric master to check it out but base it gives I do believe: Skill Power +11%, Skill Electric Power +5%
So if you want your abilities do deal damage you better use both.
nah it depends on the type of the master/focus/specialist
elemental ones are all battle and flat skill power but the type ones are split battle/attack and tend to be all Skill power MODIFIER
Focus tends to be better just cause of the CD but straight damage a specialist mod would do more if elemental (and if tech/fusion etc you would run both unless you are something like Viessa who gets barely any benefit from a SPM boost)
master mods are weird though it's a split bonus so it's a boost to a boost but even then it falls just short of Focus and it's far behind specialist mods on straight damage.. so why do they even exist??
Electric Master at max gives:
Skill Power + 44.4%
Electric Skill Power + 19%
Which appears to be worse than Focus on Electric's:
Electric Skill Power +77.2%
Skill Cooldown -6.1%
Why not Focus on Electric + Focus on Singular? They go together, and Focus on Electric seems plain better than Electric Master.
Focus on Fire - 1.772
Fire Master - 1.444 × 1.19 = 1.71836
1.772 - 1.71836 = 0.05364
You might want bigger dot or bigger single hit, or faster skill rotation, who knows your playstyle.
I am sorry, maybe I am derping here, but doesn't this math prove that Focus on Fire is still better? Isn't this 0.05364 in favour of Focus on Fire - and then it still has the cooldown reduction on top?
Good idea. I just did - I don't have both modules maxed, so I compared Focus on Electric and Electric Master on level 1.
The result is that Focus on Electric yields higher damage. And then there's the cooldown reduction on top.
On Sharen's Cutoff Beam:
12345 per tick with Electric Master
12367 per tick with Focus on Electric
It looks like the ...Master modules simply stink in comparison to the Focus on... modules. I have yet to see any evidence to the contrary.
Electric Specialist (Normal) - 81.2% Electric skill bonus
Electric Master (Rare) - +44.4 Skill Bonus, +19% Electric bonus
