[FIX] Preparing Shaders Crash Fix 1.07

Hey yall, just wanna share my personal experience regarding a fix to this issue. The only thing I did was update my graphics driver through NVIDIA geforce experience, and restarting my computer after it finished. Did not change any settings. But I did verify the game once, though I don't think it contributed to the fix as the attempt right after doing that bore no fruit.

TLDR: Update your nvidia drivers!

Hmm...there might be multiple solutions to this problem

My Nvidia drivers were already updated and i didnt do anything with them. I ended up clearing Steam download cache and changing my video settings in game from low to medium.

Hello! I tried the two latter possible solutions and they did not work! It's gotta be different for everybody at this point!

Hello! I tried the two latter possible solutions and they did not work! It's gotta be different for everybody at this point!

scratch what i just said...

Immediately after i posted it i wondered if it was repeatable. Tried loading up the game again and it crashed at shaders.

OK another follow up...

I changed my graphics preset to medium and it loaded me into Albion. So this started for me about 3 hours ago now. I wanted to move the game from my HD to my SSD. Once on the SSD thats when it gave me issues. Gonna test out a few more things to see if i can consistently get into game.

for me, it i was loading in fine, then changed to freya (with green customs tints) and crashed. Just thought it was normal crashes, but before i changed my graphic settings like i normally do, i tried with Lepic (my prev character prior to update) and it loaded fine. While in game i switched to Freya in the lab, no prob, exited the lab started intercept and it crashed at shaders. i loaded again, with Freya and it crashed. So, i started again, changed to Lepic and load screen, and no problem; loaded in fine. Did a mission with Lepic. Changed to Freya at base spawn and loaded to different map....and crashed. tried to load again. Crashed. So, for me, maybe the custom tints on Freya????. I did notice that my nvid drivers need to be updated so doing that now while typing this and will start over. usually, after update and driver update along with graphic setting change , it works, so hopefully it will this time. (oh, some times i have to just shut down my computer - not soft restart, power down and then it works)....who knows if this works, but i was crashing with no hope after prev update until i did this and have been playing ever since. idk. wish me luck!

I'm gonna be going to bed soon but i did a bit of testing. Was hard to find a pattern. I mostly just messed around with presets since i read that changing certain options in graphics will force the game to reload shaders completely. Maybe the shaders you're trying to load are corrupted? so loading a different set reloads them or loads a different quality one i dunno.

If i exit the game on low graphics, reload game, leave graphics on low, game crashes at 30%

exit the game on medium graphics, reload game, change graphics to low, game crashes at 30%

exit game on low, reload game, change graphics to medium or ultra, game loads to Albion

exit game on medium, reload game, leave graphics at medium, game loads to Albion

For that very last one though after a while it stopped working. So i exited the game, reloaded the game, changed graphics to high and then it loaded to Albion. Once in Albion i changed it back to low setting. Gonna hop to one or two locations and go to sleep. Not sure if any of the stuff i posted is useful. But its whats been working/not working for me. My pc is old 1060 and i7-9700k, Nvidia drivers are updated. Not sure if that makes a difference either.

I really do think it has something to do with the graphics settings. I just realized my game ran on Ultra right after the NVIDIA update, that may have been the unforeseen solution for me. Will try entering the game in Ultra again for my next session.

How'd it go?

well, good, i'm in. At the load screen, changed from Freya to Lepic and spawned in at Albion. The only oddity that i saw is that at around 19% it went back to 17% and again at 22%, went back to something like 20%, but loaded in ok. I changed to Freya at Albion spawn and then spawned into a map with no issues and even alt-tab to type this. I'm almost tempted to exit and try and load in with Freya again, but don't want to risk it.

update: while on the map a bunny was killing everything that lived so i decided to move to another map, but...it crashed. i tried loading back in with Freya w/out outfit and still crashed. tried again, but changed to Lepic...voila loaded right in no oddities with shaders. so, until i have time, i'm always loading in with Lepic even if he probably has nothing to do with it. (and yes, I used to have a rabbit's foot - but based on the increase of bunny hater posts, that may be a new item in cash shop instead of Luna's radio)

i did try this, but it crashed. i learned this from a prev patch post fix and it seem to work (not all the time, but most) i and since Lepic is 100% no crash for me, he's my lucky nickel, until not. Then I'll go back to the basic. I'm writing this bc it crashed out leaving an intercept battle, I'll give the graphic setting, w/Lepic, a try now. It's actually not bad crashing out since I come back to reality and eat and drink something. thx
