How do mod affixes such as equipment, module, kuiper drop rate increase influence group play? Does having the mod inherently boost all drops for all players, does equipment drop only affect the enemies killed by the person who has it or by the whole team? Does it stack effectiveness? I really am curious whether it's better to opt for private instance farming or public if the modules are isolated to the individual or the group.

From my experience and observation of other player behavior, loot is personal and tied to your stats, rather than universal to all. If you have external components that increase gold, kuiper & equipment drops, you'll see these happen more often on your side, regardless if the enemy is killed by you, as long as you're in the same group mission.
