Might be better for general spam though because it has better crit stats and it sports faster movement speed.
Can't speak on its gimmick, to me it seems it would be annoying to use. But it fits the theme of this being a more spammy weapon.

No, it enrages party-based hardmode colossi making them immune too much and too often as it deals non weak point damage and bombardment misses hangman completely. Don't use it for "everything".
Yeah the only guns you really should be using are sniper rifles, scout rifles, machine guns naezastra devotion, and abilities. However good luck pugging a group with that, most likely you get a lvl 23 bunny on executioner (hard) or a lvl 10 Valby (or both). Yeah I'm stuck on executioner hard because of crap like that...
I would advice against bothering with the Gluttony farm for now unless you really want it for some reason. If they ever buff it or make gluttony easier, sure.
Learn to aim properly, even lmg/ar/smg hitting weak point area doesn't enrage as fast as that bombarbment non-weak point damage spam. If you really suck, try some accuracy modules to shrink that reticle. SMG has some problems for certain colossi, as more than 23M away(typical standard grapple distance) your damage starts to nosedive, at 50M you are only at less than 33% potential.
I had a taste of it for one particular molten fortress run, a lepic and his greg manages to enrage it 4 times. Doing that pillar thing so many times are no fun at all with timer ticking down. Typically it's only once or twice if the party is mediocre.
Gluttony, bombardment does nothing for the snowballs either. Of course, enrages him faster too. Immunity phase = no damage done to him whatsoever, his instant wipe canister continues to fill and you have to play the purple ball ping pong.
