How the F do you beat Hanged Man?

i understand the basic premise behind this boss, but its impossible for me to shoot his mouth while hes always thrashing around and never stays still. No one i pair with seems to be able to destroy his mouth so we can get the second item to dunk.

The easy way?
Just nuke it before he blows up your party. IIRC it fires the one-shot attack at minute 8, so you have 2 minutes to kill it before it kills you.
The hard way?
Try, try, and try again.

how do you nuke it

All your party members need to be properly equipped and modded to dish out as much damage as possible, take into consideration that it is very weak to toxic and crush type damages, pretty much is a 2 minute DPS race to kill it if you want to skip the mechanic.

you just need a good weakpoint gun can destroy the mouth when he in rage mode. need to do it twice when someone is holding the ball. once you destroy the mouth twice you need to put the ball back. i forgot what time you need to do it. before 7min and 4min.

By nuking he means hitting it with enough damage so that he dies before entering rage state.

But the actual way works like this:

There's a glowy object on the ground next to him. It is right in front a set of tubes that keep filling with red liquid. If you let the liquid fill completely, the team will wipe. To avoid this the object must be removed.

Once removed the boss will enter a rage state and become invulnerable until you shoot the mouth and destroy it 3 times. Doing so will have the liquid drain out. Once it does the object can be placed back and the next damage phase will begin.

just try and shot his mouth, each 1 min and 30 secounds you have to pick up the cube under him or he will cast a insta Kill mechanic on every charakter. yea the mouth Shoting can be tricky because he wiggles around alot but if your position is good then two people can easy destroy his mouth.

None of us can hit his weak point in his mouth though because he thrashes around so much.

This was a much better worded description of the mechanic, thank you.

My issue of not being able to hi his mouth dude to him thrashing around though is the main issue.

We've even tried having the three of us not running stand together to limit his thrashing and we still can't hit his mouth. Unless we are all just horrible at aiming

Then I joined a public group and a Lepic melted it in about 10 seconds

I've seen the crush damage thing said many times before but I don't understand what that means? Or well I don't know what guns do crush type damage, unless I'm dumb this is never shown or explained in the game.

just for reference hanged man has less hp than solo hardmode bosses. and those are being nuked in 10-20 seconds. you should have no problem with hanged man. if you do improve your build or ask for a carry😁
