Except only desired if you play those characters
you can preview all the available colors. there is no black, just dark gray. The "matte black" isn't even close.
I also find it odd that they have shades of colors like gold that they use on some Ultimate weapons and Descendants that aren't available either.
It's like they're just trying to mess with my OCD. "Do you really like the default Ultimate Bunny, Ajax and Lepic helmets and just want to match your skin too them? Good luck! Mwahahaha!"
Not to mention you can't customize light colors and practically all skins have different colored lights. Sigh.
However, as people mentioned in this thread:
1) Being able to colour the default skins (at least for the ultimate skins) would be nice. Way too many generic looking ultimate bunnies running around (myself included). Nexon won't lose any money, people buy the outfits for the looks, and if people like the default skin, they won't buy outfits, but will still spend premium currency on paints to recolour it. Especially all the generic ult bunnies. It's literally profit on both sides.
2) Being able to wear the armor and headgear of the normal descendant on your ultimate to mix and match or just if you prefer the look of the normal but want the stats of the ultimate, should be a thing. They are the same character model.
3) Clear Black is missing, all the metallic rare metal finishes are matte and not shiny. More customizations, more stuff for us to purchase if we want.
Providing players with more options in these scenarios wouldn't lose money for Nexon, it'll be profit. Number 2 might be iffy because there's recolored normal descendant looking outfits so Nexon likely wants us to purchase that if we want to wear it on Ultimate or recolor. Number 1.... well, Nexon might release a paintable Ultimate default outfit recolor later, maybe that's what they are betting on, so even players that farm the Ultimates (legends, bless their souls) would still have to pay to be able to paint. Which sucks, but yeah.
Good summary. One thing to note about the "recolors," is that most change more than just the color of the skins. For instance, none of Bunny's additional skins have the same level of surface detail texture as her default skin. Some of the materials are changed in addition to the change in color palette. These tend to be a little less lazy than the typical recolors. Granted the additional/alternate details are minor, but they appear to be altering the normal maps in addition to the color of the textures.
I'm going to try to hold out hope that this will be rectified in the future. The character art design is top notch, so hopefully they'll allow us more freedom to customize them to our liking.
Yes. For the next 8 weeks you can try your best to do all the weekly and seasonal challenges you can in hopes of getting enough coins for the skins for 2 characters.
This does not really resolve anything. First, not everyone plays those characters. Second, why should we be forced to be unhappy with our appearance for 8 weeks while trying to earn skins that can be painted.
Every character comes with a skin, let us paint them like we could in beta. That way people can be happy with how they look while they're farming for skins.
Especially let us paint the default ultimate skins! Some of them are too cool not to be able to use. I'm tired of my customization options being artificially limited.
Yeah. Their paints could use some work. Especially if they're going to charge you for them.
Half of them make your Descendant look like they're in 3D Printed plastic armor. Something's just not right. Not sure how they handled their alpha transparency for color application or the shader applied to the painted areas, but something is definitely wrong.
