I Don't think you can.

It takes your steam name and adds some number after it and I do believe some people tried changing their steam names but it didn't work.

Well... you can link it to a nexon account, which will change your name. But it will also wipe all of your progress permanently. So its not something I can really recommend.

No I linked it to a nexon account for twitch drops AFTER I started playing and it did not wipe anything. I think there is a bug that made that happen sometimes, not sure if fixed or not.

you can already change name in the game but you will loose all shop bought items and all progression so full account wipe/delete but you get new name :) pffft.

not what people want when you already invested in the game for sure.

At destiny you can change once, with some manipulations unlimited.

my guess is it makes it easier for the devs to police offensive names, as they can simply defer to steam,

I've linked my Steam to Nexon account and it didn't wipe anything. It's just 200iq folks click the botton below with the warning "Do not click here or it'll reset progress" and then are too ashamed to admit how clumsy they are

even if u have to pay calipur or whatever the currency is called to do so
