The First Descendant

Game keeps crashing without any error / information /reason = UNPLAYABLE
It crashes randomly, even within missions, which is absolutely frustrating.

>>> i9 14900k, 4090, settings ultra, rt med, dlss qual, no frame gen, no ray gen, nv reflex on, unlimited framerate, HDR on LG oled 120hz
>>> latest graphics driver, clean install
>>> no overheat on cpu at max 70% in game, temps around 68C on arctic lf3 420 cooler
>>> no overheat on gpu at max 90% in game, temps around 70C on liquid cooling, no OC

As I said, I am in the middle of an intercept or an operation, or just looking around the base idle and game crashes without giving any sort of error / information as to why.

IT IS FRUSTRATING, ANNOYING AND the least the game can do is HAVE A MESSAGE AS TO WHY THE CRASH OCURRED.

ATM for me the game is unplayable... Thank you developers !!! GG!!!

Have you made sure of the following?
https://www.radgametools.com/oodleintel.htm
I also have the same issue, I updated to the latest BIOS driver for my motherboard for my 14700K to force intel power limits as well. I believe this is the game itself. I played yesterday for about 15 mins no issues, finished the tutorial. Today after I believe an update went out it crashes consistently. No clue why
i7 14700K
4080 Super
ROG Strix Z790 Gaming Wifi II
3400x1440p Samsung G5
I will wait to play once some of the issues get fixed. I know that originally games with Unreal Engine is what identified the issue with the 13+14th gen processors power limit issue, which intel blames motherboard manufactures. Bios update was put out in May for my motherboard and I no longer have instability while doing most games.

I uninstalled, updated motherboard BIOS, re-installed and it fixed. i9-13900K, 3080, ASUS ROG Z790-E Mobo.

I have checked the document, there is literally no OC on my CPU at all, and BIOS has all factory limits set manually as per document you suggested. I have also tested the game on another system where I am running an undervolted 12900k with similar specs (4090, etc.) as the above system and literal image install of the OS and the same crash is happening. So at least for the moment, I am sure it is not around the CPU.

Also no ASUS mobo here, MSI carbon wifi for 12900k and gigabyte aorus master X for 14900k, both updated and both manually set to factory settings. In fact as I mentioned, the 12900k is even undervolted.

Also tried all recommendation in the following article, nothing works:

The problem is clearly related to the graphics engine, since I checked event log and all problems are of the type: LiveKernelEvent 1b8 which is a nvidia driver failure.

IT IS GREAT THAT GAME RUNS INTO A PROBLEM KNOWN SINCE 2021 AS A DEVELOPER PITFALL IN GRAPHICS ENGINES, as per example:

I tried disabling HDR systemwide and game ran fine for like 15 minutes, then started f.ing up again... Has there been a recent update in the past 24-36 hrs?
Darkrayne 8 Thg07, 2024 @ 9:44pm
Game might close like this when you get disconnected. When the servers fully crashed before, the same thing happened.. just got kicked to desktop with no message.

So, it might not actually be a crash, could just be a disconnect (which causes a crash).

If you find ANY game using UE5 crashes semi-randomly, use your motherboard manufacturer's app for overclocking to REDUCE the CPU multiplier until it runs normally.

With my old processor (Intel) rated at 54x100 I had to drop it down to 48x100 for the UE5 engine to run properly. Entirely Intel's fault for releasing poorly made CPUs.
Same here my crashes are so bad it freezes up my whole OS and my PC slowly starts to die with applications in BG becoming slow then unresponsive, cant even open task manager, ALT + F4 the only option left is to turn the PC off via IO case button....
I have all AMD build, 5900X + 6900XT

Wish I could help, felt like I've tried every possible fix with the exception of OS reset and install
remove any oc/undervolt you using on your gpu
I recommend to test your RAM, it can also Be a problem with your XMP profil. try disabling it.
