Does defense ACTUALLY do anything?
Seriously, rocking 22k+ defense, 1600+ shields, 800+ hp (all depends on the Descendant being used) and can get absolutely shredded even in Normal White Knight Gulch by as little as four enemies???????? Rocking over double the resistance for a Colossus with these stats, still get dropped like a fly with one hit, even with the mid level ones as if I have zero defense (I'm at Hard Dead Bride, fyi, but even normal devourer can still absolutely wreck me)?

Something seems broken here. I'm seeing the stats, but I'm not seeing the benefit of the stats...

Extremely low hp?

your def is fine

your HP is not

im at 33k DEF
5k health
2k shields

depending on enemy type - shields just die in 2 hits
Darkdan777 Jul 8, 2024 @ 2:51am
9k health
1 shield
30k def
yeah, HP matters here. beef up your HP

lol im runnin 6k hp and never die. I dont understand why all these clowns keep dropping dead so fast . thx for explaining it to me...

One thing that makes hp really good is that mobs drop HP boosts.

Another is that you get full hp from a revive.

I have over 30k DEF + def bonus and 10 K health with Gley, no shield. But I saw bunnies falling everywhere, also a matter of descendant. Basically DEF substracts the incomming damage up to 80% and shield is like additional health.
My BossMode Bunny is 13k HP 20k(+5k relevant element) Defense, she can face tank in solo Colossus battles quite often.
I need to know how def work the game tell us def can reduction damage up to 80% but how much damage reduction I have with xxx DEF

I Warframe armor(def) can reach a plateau where it still increases but not as much:
1500 armor reduces dmg by ~83%
3000 armor reduces dmg by ~91%
not sure if TFD does the same but I wouldnt be surprised if it is atleast similar

According to in-game tooltip of DEF stat in TFD, it maxes out at 80% dmg reduction. Doesn't state at which numbers though...

I think there is a difference in how defense fairs against elemental damage.
For example defense can mitigate physical hits on you, but if the monsters attack with fire / electric / toxic etc, resistances will matter over defense. But the description is so convoluted its hard to tell anything lol

No wonder the toxic attack in gulch are so damn strong. Def is physical only so melee attacks and regular bullets but gulch uses toxic bombs which hurts like hell

yes people wrote that already, I was talking about the plateau behavior.

This is the one thing that I would like to know as well x)
Just show a tooltip showing how much %dmg resist the player has vs current level enemies.
