Help me understand how to build in this game
So instead of saying game is p2w, it's to hard or made this way or that way by design to get your money or whatever.

I'm asking for help to basically can somebody break it down and help me understand what how and why I'm doing X Y Z instead of following some guide and throwing the stuff I have available on and then running into battle and dying.

I'm stuck at the desert and die pretty much as soon as I get hit. I have a lot of the mods but what do I stack and what level do you improve the cards too and how many levels is too many since you have limited slots.

Characters - Bunny, Lepic and Freyna

Weapons - thunder cage (SMG), Assassin's Edge (Hand cannon) dont really use my third weapon. Anyway both are lvl 40 and maxed out proficiency as well.

I've tried to build both my weapons and characters and have a good bit of mods for them but still fall flat. All my gear is lvl 40+ I farmed a lot of it with 2 people who were kind enough to help but I'm lost. I do just fine in groups hold my own and do decent dmg but as soon as I sit down and play solo I'm just dying left and right and the dmg I do alone is not enough.

You need to level your modules, start with HP and Defense for your Descendant and FireATK and rate for your weapon. Also make sure your armor pieces have HP/Defense.

My gear are like drop chance stuff for various things. Which is not worth it anyway def not with stuff like 0.017% lol I will have to look into my modules tomorrow and level those up and hopefully get better results.

HP and Defense module is pretty much mandatory imo, use it and upgrade as high as you can. In early game the +all resistance modul is nice but it caps at 600ish and you need individual element resistance modules later on. For your 4 equipment things focus on defense stat.

Good to know and I have that all resistance one actually but it doesn't feel like it's doing much now I leveled it up to like 4 I think

Don't try to fill your mod slots pick a few hp, def ect and lvl them. The bump from upping them gets crazy and will give you a lot more effective stats early.

As others have said, slot in HP and DEF. Everyone should ignore shields, except Kyle, but he's a unique boy.

For your mods you want to level up your useful ones over slotting in useless stuff. If you have the extra space go for it, but upgrading is more beneficial.

If you press J and go to Assembily (I think), then mods, you can see a list of every mod in the game and pressing F on one shows you where it drops. Take the time to farm a few useful ones for your build

Don't forget to slot your weapons too.

Also a thing to mention is to slot and upgrade a melee skill. Doesn't matter which if you don't have many available. But, it adds mod points to your total allowing you to put better/more upgrades on.

max out the HP mod and your survival will skyrocket

Learn to move. Movement and the dodge button exist for a reason.

Staying mobile means staying alive. And don't be afraid to run out of bounds of your objective if needed to stay alive. You got time before you fail, take advantage of it.

The quickest way to die is this game is by standing still.

I am built entirely for offense.

so all 3 of these characters are very squishy and have very poor survivability due to low shields/hp. however for the desert area you should be high 30s-40 and have a decent base hp pool for each one. Its expensive but you should go to the module dude in albion next to the researcher and boost your hp modules. of the 3 bunny i would say has the best survivability as mobility, high speed, and nuking enemies close to you is a good way of surviving lol. She also best reinforces the play style of dont stop moving, not moving = dead playstyle. and make sure you use cover, the only time you should ever stop moving is when you have hard cover and need your shields to regen and you are absolutely sure there are no enemies that can shoot you, atleast long enough for the regen to start and then keep moving. Another thing that can help is upgrading the skill expansion module as high as possible and slotting it into the slot on your descendant with the same polarity. im not sure all descendants have the same polarity slots but so far my ajax, freyna, and bunny do. having a maxed or almost maxed skill range means you're able to kill enemies more effectively as bunny's V skill hits more enemies, Lepics black hole thing sucks in way more enemies and keeps them immobilized, and freyna's V skill hits way more enemies and spreads crazy far so enemies are dying as you just run away or sit behind cover letting shields regen. It helps the hit and run playstyle and surviability by improving your offense/stuns/aoe dot

how does upgrading melee skills give you more module space? from all ive seen it goes from costing nothing to having a cost as it gets stronger

I upgraded my melee sword. Each upgrade left the skill as is, but it also increase how much mod space I had for the rest of my descendant. So if at +0 I have 47 mod capacity them at +3, I would have 50 mod capacity. And that was the benefit up upgrading it.

wtf why is that not explained anywhere. ive been skipping them cause most guides i saw that had them upgraded had them costing like 6+ points and i felt it was a waste of space when its not that strong

For @OP,

As someone who unlocked Freyna and started rolling through this zone about that same time I had the same issue. The level of your Descendants matters. A level 20 Freyna is going to be more viable than a level 3 just due to the stat block being lower. Gear and mods only gets you so far with a low level character. If you can grind out some level's in one of the wave missions like the mining facility. Hopefully that helps.

Also, I just logged on real quick, and checked shock punch. It does the same thing. Its in the skill description for the melee skills.
