"Public squad" there is the problem. Hard mode anything other than open world missions is designed for pre-made groups with optimized gear. "YOU" might have good gear, but those people your playing with have nerf guns, half their gear slots empty, have no idea about breaking parts or mechanics, and have a almond sized brain rattling around an empty skull.
For hard raids and dungeons you usually need to form a pre-made. (Though I have done hard dungeons with randos, it's still a gear-check for each player.) Intercept battles however in hard+ are mandatory to have a pre-made.
PS: It's kind of funny that the devs allow hard intercepts to rando group when they can't be done by 99.9% of randos. But they DONT allow rando matching for hard dungeons which ARE doable with "some" rando groups.
You don't have to spend any money to get best gear. But just shaves around 80% of the grind off of it. Drop $100 on the game and you can get about a 50% power bump.
The iceboss is not easy if everyone only has a 500k dps weapon. You need to coordinate with 4 players, one runner for fire orbs on ice cast and 3 dps.
The Turtle also needs 4 coordinated people or you will fail. The dps requirement here is easy once you beat the ice boss but the 2nd phase forces you to place each one of you onto N / E / S / W directions and shoot the pillars. This will remove phase2 immediatly, do this twice and finish it.
If you do not have a concrete strategie you will fail these hardmode bosses. Triple gold rolls on guns dont count for anything. DPS on weapon UI doesnt show true dps.
For Bosses you want crit, critdmg, weakpoint dmg or firearm atk, colossus +dmg
For mods you need to have full crit, critdmg, weakness expose and the most important the element the boss is weak against as 30% extra attack for your weapon. The weakness mod shows no improvement on the status screen same for the elemental mod. Which is stupid because those two can double your damage.
Rushing the bosses like you do is problematic when you dont have 3 fully upgraded weapons you are forced to retreat for reloading your ammo (unless you have an enzo).
Every boss is a joke in the end with proper gear.
They really aren't all that bad so long as everyone is actually trying, both in the actual fight and in pre-fight prep. Which is the entire problem, granted, but eventually the dead weight will get bored and leave and those who remain will (hopefully) figure it all out well enough to farm. None of the first six throw any crazy mechanics at you, just more damage and more health. Don't get tunnel vision and stand in the poison puddles, yada ya.
Your problem is the Public. It sounds toxic but if you don't see all Level 40's...just leave immediately. They're not serious enough players. It's not an exact measure of ability but it does tell you their state of mind going into it (they're doing everything they can to win). That's how I eventually got it done.
Further advice? Don't go to the Discord in any of the VC's. They're all meme-lord losers who don't even play the game the majority of the time. They just blast music and scream at one another. It's a garbage heap with no redeeming qualities.
Look in the Module screen for the respective gun. You'll see the DPS. All you're seeing in your inventory is the base number. Make sure it's at least 400K or just a hair under.
