Fake player count
A lot of people are having severe difficulty reading the OP, so I've removed those few first sentences so they pay attention to what is important and stop saying the exact same thing over and over again.

EDIT: https://truesteamachievements.com/game/The-First-Descendant/achievements
According to this only 2300 people have ever even unlocked the achievement on Steam out of their sample size of hundreds of thousands.

That's a total of 2% of players having completed the achievement according to the accurate sample size. These accounts are privately tracked so no Steam bugs can occur.

The game can only be detected on 3000 accounts out of the entire community.
So let's be generous and multiply that number by 10 for private accounts, that's 30K.

Nope, fake numbers.

EDIT: For the people saying visual bug, look at any tracking website. It all matches!

Clearly you are a ghost, it could not be that it is a bug could it?...

My Steam account has nothing to do with this, did you just go through my profile for no reason?

Check your achievements, only 0.1% of players have ever equipped a mod. You do that within a few minutes of the game starting properly.

So either, everyone's quitting before in a few minutes, or someone's botting the game to make thousands upon thousands of accounts.

Check your Steam achievements for the game, they're all suddenly super rare.

Out of 230,982 players, playing right now. Only 230 have ever equipped a mod?
Nope, someone's faking the player numbers.

Nope, fake numbers.

For reference, that includes people that installed / added the game to their library. They don't even have to OPEN the game to contribute to that percentage, also due to the fact it JUST released, with MANY players, Steam is likely still updating the correct percentages, as for you it's 0.1% but others have varying numbers.

I'm not saying they aren't artificially increasing the player number to make their game seem more successful (It's Nexon afterall), but it's wrong to assume the 200K playing are the only people contributing to that number, I have many friends that have installed, booted the game up and can't even get to the main menu, they contribute to that number even though they never ACTUALLY played the game

Wow, that's actually not a bad theory. It seems pretty reasonable that players simply cannot get any further. Or that many people have tried it and put it down almost instantly.

Why do you think Steam achievements give an accurate picture?

I wanted to see how many hours you had and found evidence if a bug, it's more reliable and relevant than anything you have said.

As for going through... It took like 5 seconds to look at recently played then search your game list.

You have not discovered anything, fir some the numbers are showing, fir others they are not, this is not the first game with this issue and it won't be the last.

You have nothing.

If you're going to ignore what's right infront of you, so you can feel right, go for it man. But don't try to silence people for speaking the truth. That's messed up.

Global Steam Achievements aren't private. It's a perfect marker to see what percentage of players have even completed the opening stages of the game.

A botted account will not have played any of the game, it'll just pretend to be running the .exe through Steam, so achievements act as a gate to detect the difference between real and fake numbers.

Maybe the true fake player count is the friends we meet along the way.

no, % people unlocking achievements is wrong, it's bugged, i'm 100% sure, how do i know that? it's simple, now EVERY achievements i see are 0.1%, yesterday it was about 60, 80, something like that, so this is definitely not normal.

Dude, my brother in Christ, you're also using a 3rd party software. That's not Valve. On the same line (3rd party software), Steamcharts is currently reporting around 220k concurrent players atm. You're "website" is reporting . . . more advertisements and it does not seem very well explained where the magic "10" is coming from.

If I recall correctly, achievements are generally bugged when a developer (wherein, here is no exception) releases on Steam.

Lastly, when someone says "more than one source is making the claim" when only giving one source, just screams "I'm doubling down because I'm angry and stubborn".

Good luck!

What third party software am I using? What are you talking about?

SteamCharts doesn't track achievements, any account simply "in-game" or botted would count as players on SteamCharts. It's got nothing to do with this.

We're just looking at the Global Achievement Stats as they are not private.

When they release a new video game, they don't reprogram how Steam handles achievements serverside. What are you on about?...

I do not own the website or the data, it's all from Valve. I have no reason to be upset, you seem to feel the need to project your anger with my fact-finding.

I don't need luck, I have evidence on my side.

I . . . What? Look, you quite frankly think you're smarter than you are and won't listen to anything else other than what you have to say. This is not worth spending anymore time over.

I hope you find inner peace and/or medication, because what you just wrote was ♥♥♥♥♥♥♥ wild.

It's called "marketing", you get your game on the top of Steam for free!

They just gave away a bunch of free currency to apologize for their constant ♥♥♥♥ ups, that probably counts as "Sales" inside of Valve's free-to-play economy.

Look, quite frankly you're the only person with intelligence issues as you believed you needed to bring that up. Nice projection there! Really making yourself seem secure.

If you don't want to read the truth, you can leave!

Steam's coding is perfect? An insane take.

Oh wouw, this guy is right. :lunar2019crylaughingpig: Look at Cyberpunk 2077 and Phantom Liberty, apparently i'm the only person who plays the game. The rest are all bots without achievements.

https://i.ibb.co/ZT86XPQ/achievements.jpg

Let's check some other games. Ohh look, Hunt Showdown only around 62% killed a hunter and only 60% cleared a bounty, which are two MAIN THINGS in Hunt Showdown. So you would say the player count of Hunt: Showdown is rigged and also Cyberpunk...

Check other games and you have the same freaking thing.
