Any mechanic is going to be horrible in a pub ... even more in a pub of this game that has insanely stupid player base in general
Appearing one my one, does not imply that should be destroyed in that order. Unless someone had some recent, or strong memory about similar thing.
If the orbs would have a different design or color, that is something that could imply an order, for those used to this kind of game mechanic. E.g.: The orbs will have indentations implying numbers.
There is also the possibility of not paying attention to the order, since you are dealing with others threats. And of course, others players that don't know what they are doing.
It's one of these "OMG challenge is fun", that masochists love. Like making bosses heal fast by giving a short time or window for you to stop it.
It's not about making a game "easy", but not making it frustrating.
