The First Descendant

Caliber Purchase, Steam's Refund Policy, and Nexon.
Well, Nexon gonna Nexon, I suppose.

Enjoyed the beta's for the most part and 20 hours of the release so I figured I'd throw a bone and buy the battlepass. $10 for 20 hours of entertainment and probably at least 10 more seemed fair in my book. It wasn't an egragious grind for anything and the game runs pretty well outside of weird alt+tabbing RAM leaks forcing restarts, really weird.

Went to purchase caliber. Clicked authorize, overlay closed. No typical thanks for your purchase or anything. Figured it was a bug and did it again, same thing. No acknowledgement of purchase screen or anything like that. Check my email, I have 2 emails confirming the purchases. Steam's help shows the two purchases. Nothing in game though, the Caliber currency remained at 0.

Taking screenshots to send their support for this bug, finally get an in game message 5 minutes later saying my currency has arrive in my mailbox. What the hell is this nonsense? Why the extra steps? Accept it, buy the battlepass, move on. Then another one comes in. The second purchase. I decide to leave it. I didn't want this purchase, just the last.

Steam allows refunds within 48 hours of currency purchases as long as the item isn't "consumed, modified, or transfered." Go file a ticket on the support website, maybe that will be faster, the message window says I can ask them for a refund in the last 14 days. Also go to Steam support to request a refund.

Steam states that the item has been 'consumed, modified, or transfered.' No, no it hasn't. I have done nothing of the sort. It's still sitting there in the inbox in the message that Nexon sent me.

Dawns on me, this is why Nexon did this. By transfering the purchase via mail, it voids Steams policy on refunds. Call me a conspiracy theorist, but Nexon is not known for being on the up and up when it comes to drop rates and micro transactions, take a look at their recent mega debacle with MapleStory and the massive consumer fine they received.

I start looking through everywhere. No where in the shop does it say that caliber will be mailed to you. I look at the ToS available in game, doesn't state it there. I look at the ToS from the store page, doesn't state it there. No where does it say that the currency will be delivered via in game mail within 5 minutes.

Furthermore, the ToS expressly states that refunds will not be provided unless applicable by law. So, the in game message from the inbox is being superseded by the Terms of Service then. There will be no refund within 14 days.

Anyways, numerous screenshots later, a pointed ticket to Nexon First Decendent Support, and an unhappy body of text with Steam later, who knows, maybe i'll get the refund, probably not.

This is Nexon. So, be warned. Your purchase was successful, they are just circumventing Steams policies by modifying the transaction on their end in how it's delivered to void the refund policy.

I don't know what else this could be besides malicious. It's Nexon, they are known for being malicious with this sort of stuff.

Nexon is bad at innovating gameplay mechanics, but great at innovating new ways to take your money.

All games are like that. If you buy in game currency or other consumables, then they are non-refundable. It isn't the same as buying a game itself.

And if you purchase something online, they always tell you not to spam refresh or anything like that because it can double charge you. Same is true here. You jumped the gun and made multiple purchases of an item that is non refundable. It even tells you that it is non-refundable when you make your purchase.

This is only valid for ingame purchases for Valve developed games, is it not?

"REFUNDS ON IN-GAME PURCHASES
Steam will offer refund for in-game purchases within any Valve-developed games within forty-eight hours of purchase, so long as the in-game item has not been consumed, modified or transferred. Third-party developers will have the option to enable refunds for in-game items on these terms. Steam will tell you at the time of purchase if the game developer has opted to offer refunds on the in-game item you are buying. Otherwise, in-game purchases in non-Valve games are not refundable through Steam." [/quote]

Currency is refundable if it was not received or spent. The issue most people are having including myself is not receiving the caliber and to be greeted with a "we are canceling caliber purchases" without a refund of money spent.

So questions.
Was your Purchase finally canceled?
If so did you get a refund.
If so where did it go back to Steam Wallet or card you used to purchase?

Ok. So who paying back my 300 euro? I wanted to be polite and waited for weeks now, ticket after ticket nexon closed all of them and deleted them without a single word. They dont even try to help. The First Descendant is nothing else than a huge scam.
They dont giving back my lost account which lost because of THEY linking failure and lost everything with it.
And now you wana say that 300 euro stuff just "poof" gone and no way to put responsibility on anyone? Thats a joke!

File a ticket with nexon. These forums are not a ticketing system.

you need to understand a few things (some you might know already but they should be mentioned)

1. Whenever you purchase caliber, its not directly added to your balance, you get a mail in the shop inbox with the currency to claim. (A lot of people dont know this and think they arent getting it so just pointing it out)
If you paid and not received it, there should be a clear disparity between steam purchase history and in game mailbox messages. That can easily prove if you got it or not.

2. Steam will not refund these that easily if at all. Why? Because steam has no control over the in-game currency. They do not know if you got it or not, if you spent it or not, they have 0 power there, they are essentially blind to it.
If they would refund you, you could easily commit fraud and be banned that way because while they could give you money back, they cannot remove the currency which would then be free.(they banned like dozens of people for something like that already in the 2 ban waves).

3. THis dispute needs to go to nexon support. If you present them with the proof from point 1, it will make it easier and then they can provide you the currency or offer a refund, which is the proper way to go when it comes to in-game currencies.

Now, personally every currency i bought was delivered, the only issue I had was at launch where it was delayed but afterwards within a few seconds all is delivered.
