How do I unlock the 44th Grenadier Mask?

IT just says in game but doesn't give any directions how to obtain it

When you open the battlepass screen, theres a giftbox on the right side to show a free battlepass. You'll see the mask in there

So do I need to level up for the free battle pass stuff to unlock?
Extremely new to the game, as I only just started today.

The currency they use is rewards from weekly and seasonal ( mostly seasonal ) challenges. Those take a while
