Wow, that color system needs a change and quick.
Firstly for the fanboys, i'm enjoying the game and it's fun. Criticizing one thing doesn't mean I think the developers should go bankrupt, chill out.

I get F2P developers drool over the sheer influx of cash and how many basic features in most games can be stripped away and re-packaged for money on the shop. TFD is no exception.

The color system.... 25($0.50) Caliber to get 1 color 1 time in 1 space (6 per outfit) for a skin you just bought? That's scam central. That's $3 to change the color of your skin 1 time. As someone that has played plenty of games with customization I recolor things and shift skins daily/weekly to enjoy a fresh look.

People are going to want to change colors and experiment with different looks and they're bricked unless they spend a hefty amount of cash for such a small feature. Saying nothing that you can't paint default skins at all.

Game is F2P, it's got a cash shop. It's got OP characters to buy, it's got buffs to buy. Does it really need to have a color system this predatory and awful? I made a mistake of buying a skin and then saw the color system and how egregious it is on cost moving forward. This needs to be changed, once players catch up and see stuff like this it's going to cause interest to wane which I don't want. The game is fun, game play is tight, this specific feature is awful. Make it like Warframe-ish? Let us buy a single color for unlimited uses for 25 caliber maybe? At least we'd buy to own the color. Even then it'll be $40+ to unlock all colors but at least it's better than the slop currently in game.

Yeah, this thing got layers upon layers of loot boxes and monetization at each layer, that I am honestly impressed. Nexon isn't going to change, their cash cow MapleStory is more or less the same when it comes to monetization, and it brings them a huge revenue. So much that their "fine" is but a drop in a bucket.

lol, it was even worse in beta

in the last beta, i think you get back the paint if you remove it from the stuff.
it was just 1 slot use but infinite usage if you swap it around.

Yeah the paint system is yet another massive turn off for me. Giving out beta rewards to the rest of us was cool and all but I ain't spending a single cent until I can actually get some decent stuff with my cent.

Free use of colors when recieved...else it is just stupid and milking the cow.
DEVILDICE Jul 6, 2024 @ 5:31am
Agreed. Other games like this allow infinite use once unlocked. Warframe and Destiny both do. This is nothing but greed.

Agree that it does need to change, I kind of prefer paint terminal from the beta and the way we used our paints on any skins.

I recall in Beta it was all unlocked? Though I only played the tech Beta last year not the most recent one. still, I know it's F2P but good lord that's a terrible system. Hopefully enough people have sense and discipline to not engage in it to force the change by vote of wallet.

the consumable armor paint and lack of matchmaking in hard difficulty is my only gripe in this game
Sublime Entropy Jul 6, 2024 @ 7:54pm
The current paint system is :shit: single use is dirty AF. i can understand having to "purchase it" but should be unlimited e.g. unlocked for 20 cals not single usage. Lets not even talk about you can only use them on purchased skins only.

Yup, major dislike of this. And the fact they intentionally blocked you from dyeing your beginning outfit to get you to buy other outfits.

There's more and more sleezy micro transaction stuff I seem to discover every day, but for the purposes of this thread, I completely agree. The game is fun, I'm having fun, but these little things like not even being able to dye stuff properly where their direct competition allows is starting to add up.

once you purchase a paint for a skin, you can use it as many times as you want in as many slots as you want on that skin. Its not single use, its just locked to the skin
Fulgerion Jul 6, 2024 @ 8:02pm
Oh you should see SWTOR. Paints are one time use LOL. And many of the good or usable ones are $25-30 a pop. Nexon has nothing on EA.

But yea no. This paint system needs changed ASAP. This is ridiculous. I'm not even going to bother with it.

You don't need a convoluted system like this to gain funding. The financial department for this game is criminally insane.

In the last technical test they had 3 resources you needed for paint, you could buy 5 of each in a bundle for 300 caliber. you then went to a machine and rolled a gacha game to see what colour you would get, costing one of each resource per roll, so 5 random colors for 300 caliber and the paints you got could repeat and the 'good' colours had a lower chance than the crap ones

Black Desert tried a similar scheme and it didn't go over very well there either. Ultimately dye became unlimited and exclusive to monthly pass holders
