Energy Activators and Crystallization Catalyst Question.
The problem with Destiny 2 and The First Descendant is that isn't worth to spend resources to make your weapons better if you'll switch weapons next mission... So, the idea is to reach the top DPS, and then you build your weapon's attributes (adjustments) and unique passives.

For Mods you can go right away to as high as possible because you won't lose the Mod, you'll still use in the next weapon, the same way as Descendants, you can build them and spend resources on them right away.

QUESTION:
Do we use Energy Activators and Crystallization Catalyst on a weapon or on a type of weapon? Like, I have a machine gun that I liked, I used both to build this specific machine gun, but then I found the exactly same machine gun but with higher DPS, will I simply lose the Energy Activators and all Crystallization Catalyst, or the next machine gun will come with them the way I made?

It's per weapon not per weapon type. Bring your favorite weapons up to the power level you want them to be at will force you to grind for material and Nexon wants your playing the game. if you like that game this isn't a terrible experience but it's part of the implicit grind all the same.

This is terrible, but thank you for the reply, now I won't ever spend Energy Activators and Crystallization Catalyst on weapons because isn't worth, I'll spend on Descendants because I won't find another one of the same on the ground and waste the resources.

It's a double edged sword. You can level up your favorite gear indefinitely if you're down with the grind (or pay money). Or you can hope something better drops in the future.

For me, if it isn't an ultimate weapon with the rolls I want I would not bother. Your ultimately weapons have special capabilities that will make it worth the investment to update the level from time to time.

At some point you've completed your descendant though and then the weapon is pretty much your main source of even more dps. That's simply how this game is build upon.

Though there are systems to help you with it, like transfering levels and rerolling effects, so it's not like you're upgrading a weapon now and then throw it away 10 minutes later. Obviously don't use it on weapons that drop from enemies, but rather onto legendary stuff you craft yourself.

Ander welcome to loot shooters. This is simply how this kind of genre works. You can get away with ignoring half the features for quite some while, but the end game definitely gets more easy if you invest a littlebit of time into learning it properly from the beginning.

At this point I'll probably at the end-game min-max content of the game, which is the moment that I'll drop and find the top weapon, and the moment that I want to spend the resources, unless NEXON makes clear that every single new update will be only end-game content which means we won't ever reach a top.

Just because a bad system is common among the genre doesn't mean isn't bad, it just means people got used to it and are already fine with stupid things like that. It would be better if it was weapon type, not weapon itself, like Warframe. I get it, the idea is to waste player's time and resources on repeating meaningless tasks over and over again in hopes of making the player waste money on skips.

This is somewhat inaccurate. Say you have a tamer at a low level and use your energy activator in it but then find another tamer of a higher level with better rolls the new tamer will keep whatever mods and the energy activator you used on it it does carry over per weapon but not weapon type. You can't use an activator on a tamer and it be on enduring legacy as well

honestly instead of axis and other crap in the battlepass you should have got atleast 1 or 2 energy things and atleast a few forma. or be able to buy them with the bp currency instead of the 1 thing i would use be 90 levels worth of that currency, when 2 axis is cheap af and takes 5 mins. idk someone wasnt thinking about there rewards an ♥♥♥♥ when they did it all. plus killing 10 hard bosses says it gives 2 forma. but really it lies.
