Using a colossus as an example.
Have one general purpose weapon for trash. Have another weapon tuned to the boss's weakness for sustained damage in between high damage windows. Probably an AR, Scout, Sub, or Machine Gun. I prefer ARs and Scouts myself.
Eventually you will break a critical component on the Colossus, it will stop moving and a normally shielded weak point is exposed for a short period of time.
This is when you want to use your sniper if it has a relatively high fire rate, low recoil, and is element tuned to the boss's weakness. You shouldn't run out of bullet until the boss recovers and once that happens just reload and switch to another weapon. If you land your shots you will achieve high if not max DPS while the critical weak point is exposed.
-----------------
Similar logic applies for heavies in the open world. if you want to run and gun with your sniper Or use it for clearing trash you are likely going to get bodied. At least that is what would happen to me.
Besides having the ability to to one tap everything just because you run a sniper and have a lot of ammo would really diminish the values of all the other weapons in the game.
Thats how i did it, my 3rd slot was an smg just to unlock all bonuses from the core.
Ammo is a bit tight and you need a long range gun to do dps and blast pieces
I put them in order you find them except silly weeper and gregs. These have good utility in harder content when you get familiar with the colossus and bosses.
Reload how?
For example I tried keeping my maxed thunder cage for gen ammo gun (yes I am using bunny), a scout rifle and sniper but I kind of feel the sniper is useless cause in the colosal intercepts I don't get ammo for it and the ammo robot doesnt seem to relaod that type of ammo?
Thanks for the replies folks!
By default pressing R reloads it. If the boss reveals his weak point the next time, then you simply don't want to waste half the time in the reload-animation.
Also the bosses in the intercept occasionally spawn small enemies, which in fact drop ammo. Though since purple ammo still drops rarely, rather use these weapons for the weakened phase only, just to preserve the ammo for the time where it's most vulnerable. You shout have enough ammo for like 1,5 - 2 phases, before running out of ammo and with some luck you might find a littlebit extra ammo from one of the small enemies.
Oh yeah I know that lmao I meant how to reload once out of bullets cause you know I never seem to get anymore
Purple ammo is by far the rarest, you just need to be lucky with it. That's also why you don't waste it on small enemies.
And beyond that, even using it only for 2 short bursts in a boss fight is usually worth it, if you don't run the risk of running out of ammo with the other weapons anyway.
That's what I do.
I also cleared the campaign on normal! Yay me and only got carried on devourer and used my bunny for everything...deadbride was the hardest one for me....pyro was easy and got it on the first try and I do my stuff in public runs too.
