Data Collection
I tried like hell to opt out. But i cant figure out how.

Im not about to be a product for these publishers in more way than one. And they expect me to pay outrageous MTX prices? Nah man, this aint right.

I really wanted to play, but im not a data port to be sold.
Just throwing my 2 cents out there.

Do you use discord? You're already giving your data away. As for how to opt out? Just use the link in the TOS agreement.

Yeah, i clicked on the link and it took me to their forums.
I looked through all of the links but didnt see anything about data collection.
As for discord, yeah... That just happened. In a lot of ways much more concerning.

Right? I always find it amusing when people say things like the OP. Yet they pay will their phone, use cash app, venmo, buy stuff from Temu and even access their bank accounts on their phones/laptops using free WIFI from Starbucks.

I've also read through the privacy policy of nexon's... They aren't collecting anymore info then for example discord, or even steam, or well EA for that matter. So what is going on here? Only reason I read it was because apperently some dude said they were collection stuff from your drives *obv not true lmao* but had to see for my self anyways, and yeah that was total ♥♥♥♥♥♥♥♥ and untrue.

Is some dude just spreading lies, and people can't be arsed to fact check? So instead they just parrot the same garbo?

and why do you care??

what data do you think they collect?

if you think they collect data about you. as in your personal information, they dont, they dont care about you as an individual.

use internet anywhere, and anyone can get your "precious data"

Btw to add onto this, if you don't want your data sold I respect that, but as a whole be ready to stop using Google, ANY social media, including discord, and forget about running android or having a apple device. In fact forget running steam, or whatever services you have running on your pc. Your data has been getting harvested for many many years. There is a reason why so many softwares, products and services are free nowadays, YOU ARE the product., and even those you pay for, Netflix for example, or Amazon Prime. Well they too collect everything about you, even if you are a paying customer, because you are $$$$$

And if you are from the USA, well fred not, because the company you get your internet from, yes your ISP, is most likely collecting data off of you to sell! Welcome to 2024. :)

"Whataboutisms" dont make this any better. It doesnt make it right, and its why i dont use many services. But lets do pre-kindergarden logic, lets do whataboutisms. I get ♥♥♥♥♥♥ over by my government, my schools, at the grocery store. So this all should apply to my entertainment too? Should this ♥♥♥♥♥♥♥ apply to all of the games? Should i always be the product? Should we pay more than just our souls? I think were all missing my point here. This is a video game, discord and google are services. Where do we draw a line, if any? What im hearing from most of you is how much you dont care or simply are too deep to go back. So then whats the point of anything for that matter? Why fight the good fight, why stand our ground? Whats the argument you guys are actually making? That i should just kowtow?

No you shouldn't kowtow, but drawing the line where you find convenient and where it would the least effect you is kinda stupid. Don't wanne kowtow? Be the change you wanne see, and get off the internet. If this game was the straw that broke the camelsback then jeez idk, because again relative to what nexons collects, it's about the same as any live-service game or mmo, you know those things where they often need to process info on their side to be able to provide you with services, like a payment processor or support. If you aught to make a difference, start with the ones that are the most abusive with your info, and yes that would be your phone, and some of the services you use. But you'll quickly find out that if you want to be a functioning human being in society in the modern year, you need to have a phone, you need to have internet, and you'll need to have accounts in places that process your data. This is reality.

Want to make a REAL difference? Go into politics and lobby for data protection laws and blocks on data gathering, because that will be the only place ever, where you will be able to instil change on a level that actually wil do something.

Yeah, i agree with a lot of this.
But i wouldnt call drawing this line convenient. Maybe in the case for steam, sure. But other services that are required for everyday life?
To add in, i dont really play MMOs but thought this game was interesting and got bummed out.
I suppose this was just one of many straws that broke my back. Its bad enough having requirements for life turn me into a number. The whole thing is dehumanizing and why i try to avoid these kinds of products all together.

The reality of it is you either agree or don't play. That's how they set it up right or wrong.

Yeah, i feel like the out of touch old man screaming at the sky. Im just frustrated with all of this i guess.

You have to strike a balance if you want to be online in any form. I don't use discord, I don't have social media, and my phone is de-googled. I use brave browser, a VPN, pihole, and shut up windows 10. I'm probably less tracked and profiled than your average brainndead consumer but I'm not naive enough to think I've solved the problem.

Things get infinitely more difficult the more you scale up your privacy wall and at a certain point it's diminishing returns. Do what's best for your threat model but don't forget to live.

I don't blame you, I feel similarly but there's quite literally no way around it so what can ya do but shrug. Control it where you can.
In this case the decision is play or don't but in other cases you may be able to do more about it (like opting out on purpose).

I don't even know why opting out is an option when you can't click it. It should be removed and have a opt in or log out button like any other mmo or game does
