I'm only level 20 plus and I feel like my attack numbers are not great against armoured enemies despite using level 20 weapons, am I missing something here?

Yes. Eventually you will have to face an intercept boss shortly after swamp zone that requires you to have a beefed up loadout on your team or you will just wipe to damage checks.

No, just play the game, or don't play it.
It's a free-to-play game, no one is forcing you to play it.
Just try, if you think you need to add money into it, delete it.
Move on to another game, YES, is this simple.

Just dismantle everything you dont use and upgrade weapons and stuff with the stuff you get from dismantling.

not at all it's all about time investment and getting a good enough build...
ppl are carrying others with the base chars you can get at the start

First and easiest weapon you should be researching is the Thunder Cage SMG, it is the best tool you have access to early on. If you dont mind the grind you can farm fo4 4 more after the initial and boost the aoe proc to 100% and have insane fun.

A screenshot of what? You literally have not progressed that far into the game even after 50 hours.
