Directx 12 not supported on the system
I get this error when I'm trying to launch my game despite having everything updated. I'm on windows 10 (i7-6700HQ CPU @ 2.60GHz) with Intel Graphics 530 and GeForce GTX 960M.
My Directx diagnostics states that I have DirectX12 and the feature levels include 12_0 & 12_1. I even tried forcing the game to launch with a specific graphics card, but both still give the same message.
I know my laptop is old and I'm not that knowledgeable in computer specs, but DirectX 12 should be supported, at least from what I researched (Nvidia even has the game's ad on the driver update page). I've watched endless tutorials and read a number of forums but nothing helps. I'm also able to run Warframe on this device, if that helps. Any help?

Update Windows 10! It helped me, despite the fact that my computer is already old.

I am also on 22H2 but still getting the error after updates and restarting

People wrote to me that the Ryzen 5600 is too weak and old for this game. The same error on Windows 11, last updated, with directx 12 writes dxdiag

i can't even submit a ticket on the first descendant's page because it says I'm using the wrong verification method when I'm logging in on steam with my profile

Your laptop is below minimum hardware requirements, for any and all other Unreal Engine 5 DX12-only games that use UE5-specific featuresets.

GTX960M, unlike it's desktop counterpart or even 970M does NOT support FL12_1, it only supports up to FL11_0, therefore it also does not support 64bit atomics from Shader Model 6.6 Nanite requires to run.

gtx 1050, roll back drivers lower and lower

There's a certain requiremnt from Agility SDK in terms of driver support.

Eeasy to check why you're geeting that error and cannot run this game:

- Intel Graphics 530: Supports DirectX 12 (12_1 feature level) but ONLY Shader Model 6.4
- GeForce GTX 960 Mobile: Supports DirectX 12 but ONLY 11_0 feature level.

Last update version 475.06 - support Agility start with 466.11

The latest builds of the Agility SDK and one used for this UE5 game require a higher GeForce display driver version than 475.06. You should update to the latest 556.12 drivers.

475 is a legacy driver, update to actually supported driver package, latest is 556.12.
You are missing years worth of driver updates.

but the game was running fine in beta and now they've changed it for the worse

If it is anything like Bellwright, they used UE4 for beta and UE5 for the actual game.
Assuming you have thie exact error message.

EDIT:
To answer this: Yea, they did migrate from Unreal Engine 4 to UE5 for Nanite and Lumen.

So the early playtests were on a completely different engine setup and had different hardware requirements.
