Energy Activator back to level 1?
So after using an Energy Activator, my Ultimate Bunny had 70 module capacity. Shortly after, she only had 65 capacity and was back at level 1 instead of level 40. Is this normal?

did you use a crystalization thingy to add a polarity to your mod slot ?

Yes. I used it add one to the mod slots. I assume that's why it went down by 5?

Just curious. What's the point of starting back at level 1? Will I end up being stronger this time around at level 40 when I reach it again than the first time I was level 40?

Yes, it's intended. When you apply a module socket you have to re-level so you can't just apply them one after another.

You do get an overall increase in capacity once you're back at full level. (assuming you're using that slot to divide the cost of a module by 2; otherwise it's the same cap as before (or worse if the socket type doesn't match the module))

once you reset, you get to add an 'affinity' rune to a slot, this will allow you to utilise more mod points. ( they really need to do a better job of explaining a lot of the mechanics in game ) it's similar to prestige in CoD or destiny with the vendors.

at what gear level do you recommend using the catalyst? Currently at Dead Bride, so that's LV 44, and I assume doing higher-level content will get me back to 40 pretty quickly.

Up to you, in the long run it won't matter much.

If you do it early on you won't notice as hard of an increase in mob lethality as you progress your way through the "campaign", since you'll be back to having low base stats while the enemies are also still lower level relative to you... but at best you'll manage to get one or maybe two catalysts in before reaching the end of the game unless you intentionally turtle.

If you do it later on you can always (and certainly will) go back to either lower level content or less dangerous zones to farm for something and you'll have trusty high level weapons and gear to compensate for your squishiness eitherway.

At the end of the day, on a fully leveled 16cost module you'll at best get 8 capacity back and that's only after you've re-leveled all the way back to lv40 so it'll be a very long painful grind for minimal gains by doing it early on when you don't need that extra capacity all that much. But if you're playing a character that desperatelly needs that extra cap in order to squeeze that farming effectiveness as is the case for bunny it's probably better to do it as early as possible.

It is like Warframe. When you cap out, and use a Forma, or in this game, a Crystalization Catalyst, you will reset your character to 1, but you get to inscribe a rune, which allows for you to essentially get higher level mods slotted due to halfing your mod cost on anything that matches the rune slot.

The only drawback is you have to relevel the character. But that is normal.
