Game Causes System to Freeze Up
I updated my drivers before I installed the game and even turned down the settings in case it was too heavy on my GPU, but the game still seemingly randomly will just cause my entire PC to freeze, then the screen goes black cause it no longer has any input, and I have to hold down the power button to get my PC to turn off and then turn it back on again to fix it. Twice it's happened during heavy firefights with a lot of stuff going on in the game on screen, but this second time was after I turned all the settings down to low/medium except the draw distance to see enemies pop in from as far away as possible.

I just tried updating all my motherboard drivers in case that was it for some reason and hopefully won't have any issues going forward, but is this happening to anyone else? I've never seen this before. It's even done it when the game was minimized and I was working on other stuff in the background with the game just chilling at the main menu. I don't notice anything weird in task manager while I'm playing and trying to also keep an eye on that. It's super odd and I don't know what's causing it-I just assume it's something with this game cause it's never happened before with other games and still doesn't happen with other games.

Have exactly same problem with my PC
Cpu 7900X
GPU RTX 4080
Ram 64 Gb 6000 Mhz
Game on SSD

Game randomly( after playing 1-2 hours or immediately after game launch) freeze for black screen, and no GPU signal than PC restarts itself

Temperatures on CPU is about 50 during game, GPU is 55-60

I don't understand what is wrong too

Gonna test on other PC with 3700X and RTX 3070 on board

Here is a site with several suggestions for what you are both reporting.

I'll try this after job, okay

but I don't have this issue playing other games at all. They run good without any problems

I get that and its super irritating when it happens like this if nothing else than how hard it makes it to troubleshoot and fix. Its likely though that its really not only that game to cause this, but its only that game to cause it so far.. As in eventually, you will see this again in another game or application as they get more complex over time. Eventually something else will hit that weak spot in your system and cause this to happen again.

These sorts of problems really suck to fix. Hopefully that page has one of those suggestions in there that helps you.

I don't think it's my system. I think it's this game. I think it's massively overheating my graphics card despite not using more than 50-60% of it according to my task manager. I can play other games at 100% GPU usage without having these issues. There's something wrong with the game that's causing problems with my PC and other people's PCs. These issues don't happen with other games. Just this one-and unfortunately, none of the steps in that page help. It's all basic stuff that I did before posting this thread. Stuff like check that drivers are up to date and make sure you're not limiting power your machine needs. Nothing in there helps with a game that for some reason is causing your GPU to heat up so badly it's crashing your whole machine.

Has anyone looked into the idea of a Memory Leak issue? This sounds VERY similar to what would happen with the old Battle for Middle Earth games, and several others. Play too long without resetting your computer, and the game would leak memory until it crashed itself.

I have an almost same problem. My game just randomly freezes while the system is still running with the audio playing. After a while, even the audio freezes with "errrrrr" sound. It is not happening during loading screens but at any random point during the game. I have a Ryzen 5600x, Rtx 3070, 32Gb Memory running on a 2TB NVme SSD with 750W PSU... This is above the minimum requirement i guess.
Im noticing a freezing that I didn't had, and rubberbanding cause of lag, since the last patch.

Anyone having trouble running it I highly suggest using Lossless scaling. Someone recomended this here and it works really well . No lag for me on a mid / low end system . https://store.steampowered.com/app/993090/Lossless_Scaling/

I've been playing the game fine last couple days but now my pc completely freezes and I have to power down my pc. Audio still plays with a loud piercing noise. It has happened twice already and other games are running fine.

I THINK I FIXED IT!!!!
I'm using 2 Nvme SSDs (2TB for gaming and another 1TB is for window and programs) and HDDs. I installed the game in the 2TB SSD and that apparently caused the CTDs and System freezing. I noticed that, after i restarted my PC, the 2TB drive always disappear and then reappear when i completely shut down my system.
Therefore, i move the game folder to the 1TB SSD (the window and programs don't need that much space anyway) and I've been in the game 4-hours straight, without even a FPS drop.
So, below is possibly be your fix:
1) Easiest attempt go first. Verifying files of the game with steam menu.
2) Disable Vsync, switch to Borderless-window instead of Fullscreen
3) THIS WORKS IN MY CASE - Not working? Move entire your game folder to another drive. The window drive is ideal.
4) Not working? Check your PSU. Sometimes, Gaming PC consumes more than Power and that make your SSD or other components suddenly and in the blink of any eye, disconnect from your system and reconnect.
5) Not working? Find a memtest application to test all of your Memory sticks.
6) Not working? Find a drive test application to test the health of all your drives.
7) If everything is fine and you still get the problem, check if the fan and the temperature.

If the above tests and everything else are all fine and you still can't fix it, while other games are working fine then... I guess the game is just not working with your current system or OS. A freshly reinstall of your OS is recommended.

Hope this will help you and others!
Bye bye (UwU)ノ

check if you have background fps on, if it is on, disable it. that might fix it for you

I have the same Problem.
Game randomly crashes without any Error message and then freezes my Computer.
But there is not always a freeze.
Always when fighting enemies.
PC restarts itself after some minutes.
No problems while playing, no stutter, no FPS drops.
Game is just unplayable like this.

MB ASUS TUF GAMING B550-PLUS
AMD Ryzen 7 3700X
GeForce RTX 3060 12GB
RAM 2 x 16GB, 3200 MHz, DDR4-RAM
installed on a M2 SSD. Tried other SSD too.
Windows 11 (64 Bit)

Changing every ingame settings didn't helped
Temp is normal while playing
same for CPU und GPU use (similar to other games)
Every Software is up to date.
Files also verified after every crash.

Sounds like you and i got the exactly same problem.
Here are 2 more things that i tried. Didn't work in my case but I dunno if it can help you. I don't know if it has anything to do with my problem but worth a try.
1) open properties of Steam, run Steam using compability mode for Windows 8 and Disable full screen optimizations.
2) disable steam overlay for this game.
Hope this will help you.
