I've seen posts where people are claiming Flight Sim and other MS games are down ATM too, you sure it's not MS servers? I didn't look into it, just asking.
Because the entire game runs on the Microsoft Azure servers, not only the Xbox version. Microsoft also rents the server outside Xbox Live services.
The FIrst Descendant is not the only game that is affected, also first party games like Sea of Thieves, Forza and Flight Simulator showing similar problems on Xbox aswell on PC.
Yes it is, more games are offline that are running on the Microsoft Azure server.
A lot of companies use this at least to start the game off as it can be scaled quickly, then when the player count levels off after release they get a more realistic stable number of servers to bring down cost.
it is about validating patches and such, MS is using a rather hard to use system for crossplay and that messes things up, ps also use it but stopped because of how trouble some it could be, it isnt really the server it self but the patches/validating patches wich trouble the Devs currently.
from my knowledge.
This is essentially what I assume as well. We won't know unless they tell us themselves tho.
Sony signed a deal to use MS Azure. This means that Sony, MS Xbox, and PC are all using the same cloud infrastructure. This is why players across the board are being affected by the same issue.
Sony did not invest in their own cloud and signed with MS to make developers happy. Developer only need to target MS Azure instead of MS Azure plus Amazon Web Services or Google Cloud Compute when developing multi-platform games.
