Are healers viable?
This is not a b*tch thread, just curious if the game gets to a point where a healer archetype is viable. Seems like with most groups everything melts pretty quickly, does that change later in game?

I realize maybe nobody has gotten that far yet.

Eh, Honestly I tried it with Yujin; I was not really that impressed. I think Jayber is more viable

I'm not saying it's "hard" but I did notice that during and after Sterile Lands you can see the difference, i.e. you can't just stand still and ignore enemies damaging you and just mow everything down.

I had a handful of groups where I did a good amount of reviving in some of the "dungeons", which was pretty easy as Ajax, just drop a shield and revive in relative safety.
There is a healer class?
I thought that the concept of full support classes have long gone from MMOs. And the pieces scattered among the remaining classes.

I used to love full support classes. The only problem is that it was dependant of other classes to level up and equipments, and people are often rude.

Healers can be, but like in WoW or DDO. Healers take a certain level of patience and supportive actions. Which is very very boring. Vote for Gley :D

Jayber main and his healing turret is useless. everyone is moving so much.

Propably not the difficulties so far maybe later

Healing is ULTRA limited with only a single dedicated healer character. (And apparently one semi-healer) So not really a thing. Healers/tanks are pointless early-game as the enemies are so pathetically weak you can kill them all with melee attacks and never even use a gun. That changes later of course.

Takes practice to work with a healer. More so since most people are new. During the beta people got it down but its mostly for void raids. Don't really need a healer for farming missions like defense and such as you can pretty easier pick ppl up.
Early game its pointless because mobs are so weak, but endgame they're probably very op, most of the damage comes from weapons so healers aren't that behind from other dps oriented characters

I hope they are. I'll be maining Yujin....

The main issue is people who are almost dead running away from you as you heal them, then dying. There's definitely a place for healers, but people can't stand still

I think some of the unique weapon effects could also serve to make healers way more viable. For instance, I have a pistol that adds a -10% armor debuff to enemies on weakspot hit, that also gives a shield to any ally you shoot with it at the cost of your mana. Seems like it could be a nice support weapon.

i have many situations where i would like a healer but no situations where i need a healer.

It's the kind of game where heals and stuff are more designed for a communicating team that calls for people stacking up, rather than spot healing. Sounds like it's great to have, and probably meta, in those scenarios, but probably ass in pugs with zero comms.

It gets very challenging later if it's anything like the betas. So challenging that many people will probably quit.

The main story missions and early Void Intercepts are absolutely no indication of what difficulty is like on the higher Void Intercepts or when you're wanting to push past wave 15 in events. Healers are mandatory for high group performance at endgame.

A really good Jayber player that knows how to buff their turrets properly, blow up their turrets properly and DPS at the same time can make the entire team practically immortal in most situations. Other players will (hopefully) quickly learn that defending Jayber's healing station is a number 1 priority.

Jayber is also the best by far for solo farming wave events.

Healers are viable and useful in Special Operation missions, especially once you hit the later waves. I got further waves in with a healer than without.

Regarding Jayber, and I don't know if this is still the case, but in the crossplay beta Jayber's healbot did more than heal players, it was also repairing the structure that we were defending.
