Unlocking characters (f2p) realistic for a casual?
So I'm enjoying the game even though I despise the cash shop pricing model and some dubious 'Pay2win' practices. I would like to keep playing and may consider the odd purchase here and there if I'm getting a good amount of enjoyment out of it. I would like to try a few more characters first though, I play a few hours a night, sometimes more sometimes less. Realistically how long would it take to unlock 1 character through grinding and how early could you begin to do this? Is it an 'endgame' activity? Can you start straight away? I assume you have to unlock certain areas to enable the grind so how early does this happen?

Ultimately, am I looking at a 2-5 hours of grinding different areas to craft a character (which is great) or are we talking 20+ hours and that's if I'm lucky and does it depend on the character I'm wanting (other that ultimate ones)?

Any way, cheers.

The standard few descendant is okay, typically up to 15 hours to get. Easiest is bunny since it's part of an early sidequest, 1 hour in, and you'll get it simply by progressing through story...

The more rarer ones, will takes much longer, typically if you scan their components in research shop and see anything related to Voidwalker(Hard), it'll be rough since most people sucks right now and is unable clear hard voidwalkers repeatedly or easily... As game "matures", you might be able to leech off good players then.

Ultimate? Few hundred hours at least

for f2p its will be around 50-100 hours for normal one and 200-500 for the premuim since they are lock behind a huge raid/hard/mission and drop are sh*t 0,2-1% drop for material so yeah..... if u got time u can try f2p but since got not time i go p2w.

So it's better to delete it now, this game is far from being friendly like Warframe, it's a Korean game, and Koreans love difficult grinds.

his number for droprate are bad so probably wild guess. even with the lowest quality relic ultimate part are 3% drop rate. and 6% with high quality key (from Hard mode)

with 3% you are looking at ~75 relic to reach a 90% probabilty to have obtained the part at least once (so you should be below that outside of bad luck streak) and you need 4 part so look at around 300 relic top.

even with good gear you are looking at a 5min fight (colossus + restart + load + looting) for now. so 25h of opening key alone if you luck is bad.

main problem here is how long to obtain the key ? haven't spent enough time yet to get some average clear time of content giving the key so for now it's up to everyone imagination.

but unless you want ultimate bunny now, don't farm her yet, move the quest forward until you unlock hardmode as you'll get relic with higher drop rate for her parts.

Its just simple math for probability. Lets use ultimate bunny for example. The drop rate for the amorphous is 25% and the with this item, the drop rate for the blue print is 6%. Well lets take a look at both of these percentages.

A = 25%
B = 6%
C = Chance of obtaining bunny.

We need both A and B to be true in order to acquire the bunny piece. The math for that is simple. We simply multiple the percentages.

A * B = .25 * .06 = .015 = 1.5% = C

So the chance of first getting the amorphous and then actually getting bunny from that obtain amorphous is overall 1.5%. I hope this helps in understanding why this is not too friendly for FTP players. If one really likes this game and doesn't have a lot of time, it may be more worth while to just buy their ideal character.

Base Valby, Lepic and Ult Valby, those 3 are easy and doable without touching HM.

!00% F2p realistic. You might go mad trying to get the last part to drop, but it can be done.

So ... the RNJesus giveth and RNJesus denyeth.....

Once you have a fully upgraded farm character the battle begins.

I unlocked Sharen in about 3 days
It took 20 days to get Enzo
(You need them for Code vaults/outposts drops)

It took me 3 days for Ult Bunny
1 day for Ult Valb
2 days for Viessa

2 weeks and counting trying to get my Ult Gley.

So, yes it's doable.... but the timeline is the unknown.

It is very F2P friendly as long you grind. It is a looter game first and foremost. Before you clear hard, you need to plan where you put your activator but even if you accidentally used it, you still can clear all content without. You just need to max the basic mods mainly basic damage mod, hp and def. Thats it.

This is in fact is already much easier than warframe or destiny 2. Dont buy activator or catalyst ever, you seriously dont need it. You will be flooded by those in hard mode. Ignore all of those build guide until you reach hard mode and get your first catalyst or activator through crafting.

lol, have gotten 5 ultimates in 330 hrs, and not to mention like 8 regular descendants.

the guy throwing out his made up math on character grinding is incorrect when it comes to the grind because he cannot math like he thinks he can. Characters can either be fast or they can be short depending on rng. I've not focused on characters too much and i have nearly all of them and i havent bought a single one im missing 5 at the moment and most are half done.

Getting Luna blueprints is easy.
Getting mats to craft her blueprints, that's the fun part, especially if you don't have Enzo.
