What the hell is an Encrypted Vault

What title says, I'm just stuck on a side quest cause I have no idea what to do and the game doesn't guide you.

They are small blue diamond holograms that are hidden throughout the world. Stand on one, hit your Ecive (tab on pc, r stick on console), and look around until you hear a chime, you should also see a white diamond marker. Head towards it and you'll find a sarcophagus. That is the vault. It will require a precision or standard code analyzer to open. Once it is open, there is a small lock-picking-esque sequence. Follow the button prompts and congrats you have loot

Hmmm I've been trying this but it only leads to munitions canisters. Any thoughts?

I've been standing on top of the holograms and spinning in circles activating my Ecive and not getting any chimes or markers on the UI. I thought maybe I needed to do all the missions on a battlefield first, but no luck.

Something I'm missing?

Sometimes theres a chime sometimes theres not, the vaults arent always in their spawns because if someone claims one it dissapears. also the white marker will not lead you to it. you have to use the sound. make sure you ecive in all directions even down, sometimes theyre behind walls, in caves, underground etc.

That's a bit of info I hadn't seen shared anywhere and may explain why I'm not finding any so far.

Also, knowing that you can ping from anywhere in the zone and not just starting on top of the holograms and hear the chimes makes this a lot easier. I finally found one.

Is loot in a valut based on level/location (mainly, caches) or completely random?

I've literally just been running around finding them. Didn't realize this is what you are supposed to do.
