Game or Malware?
A EULA that tries to override legal rights. That openly states Nexon can obtain the contents of your device drives...

That's not the function of a game. The function of a game is entertainment. Enjoyment. Not data mining info to sell...at the cost of computer performance, let's add, since that will require addition processes to run.

By definition, according to its own EULA, this isn't a game. It's malware. As such, it should be removed from Steam immediately.

Liberty, Freedoms and Rights, one by one they are removed and celebrated. Marvel may be fiction but if it is one thing it got right is Loki in Germany. KNEEL!.. this is what humanity is so eager to do. There's at this point nothing we can do about it. the flock of sheep is in the billions now. There's no way out any more.

Agreed.

The sheep can have this patch of tainted grass. This crap in gaming is a line for me. I won't cross that line.

Besides, there are good single player games out there. Not to mention books, movies and shows. Why waste time grinding a data miner in this day and age?
Exactly, now put that heart to rest and go read a book. There's a few new releases of audiobooks from Audible that are really good.

Sadly, people don't care about their right to privacy. They just want to enjoy the games and accept all the ToS without reading them. It's amazing how they ignore all the consequences. Unfortunately, the ignorant choose to follow the herd and cry when they suffer the consequences.
You just read all the answers... People who say why bother when everyone is doing the same thing. They are sheep. People who say they have nothing to hide. They are ignorant because they ignore that data can be easily leaked and they can be scammed by someone, etc.
Nobody should give their house keys to people they don't know. No one should reveal their private life to people they do not know. These things are easy to understand.
But people are not really aware of the consequences because they do not know enough about what can be done with people's digital information.
The important here is... do you understand what are you accepting? And then... decide by yourself.

It's amazing how many tinfoil hat people there are in this world. Yes the anticheat people can see what you have running on your PC, but Windows 10/11 does that EVERY day. If you have issues with a kernel-level anticheat, why are you even on Windows in the first place? Windows is way worse with tracking and spying on its users.

This anti-cheat is quite light in its tracking compared to what Microsoft wants to know about you. Microsoft has a backdoor straight to your PC that law enforcement can use if they suspect you of something.. That's worse than letting a anticheat see what cheats a user might be using. Even knowing what Edward Snowden leaked, people still willingly run Windows. Linux is now more open than ever, and Steam has made it so 1000s of Windows games runs fine..

But people are instead of trying Linux, whining about what is happening on Windows.. Just grow the F up. You are willingly accepting a worse alternative and for that you choose to live with the consequences.

This is illegal in the EU. GDPR and such things.
In the USA, the FBI probably needs to investigate this.

It is standard. Kind of hard to play a game if they can't get the game files off your drive.

Web tracking is normal to their site and away from it. It gets used to track what is driving people to the site and where they go away from the site. Literally every large business site does this to study traffic.

Trust me, no one cares or is studying what S3r Pownzers is doing all day on his computer. And if you are that worried then you do need to disconnect your internet, turn off your cell service, put blinds on every window and don't watch broadcast TV (The new broadcast standard supports 2-way). Then you are only tracked by your power company, water company, landlord/mortgage company, the city, the county and the Federal government. Plus any neighbors with cameras, oh and your car likely has a GPS tracker or at minimum your plate can be tracked the moment it appears on any camera anywhere.

Good luck.

Gamers are addicted, they would give up their human rights if it meant they could still play games. Comparatively this data collection is nothing and is now the normal standard for anything you do online. Is it right morally? No. But they make the rules and you can choose to follow it or not.

In 20th century one had to understand: people will sell everything for convinience and comfort. As long as it stays this way - noone will ever do anything.
Nor will I, btw.

While I acknowledge how creepy that is -- I still do it, just to play the game. Though, I'll probably delete it at some point, yet my data will be sold regardless.

This is exactly it. GaaS titles only really care about addicting whales anyway.

No thanks.

I don't really care about my information being sold unless it affects me straight away. Here's a shocker for you, whatever accounts you have on any type of website, they will sell your data regardless of what you say until there's been a breach. No where is safe, at this point you might want to get off the internet and go offline.

saying dumb **** like this is what literally makes you a NPC/consoomer.
Vinnolo Jul 3, 2024 @ 7:58am
tinfoil ppl saying they dont want to play game that sells their info but they have google, facebook, instagram, or even windows, which is actually much worse lol
PortalShifter Jul 3, 2024 @ 8:00am
It's malware that some people will spend thousands of dollars on, hilariously.

not the best takes at all. at least for the internet there's all sorts of things you can do to help protect your privacy. for games... idk what you can really do.

partitioning, using privacy browsers/extensions, fingerprint blocking, telemetry blocking, vpns, open source, decentralization etc. all help 100%. you kinda only want your OS to be the only spyware as of now. best to be mindful and not use slippery-slope logic to justify not being conscious of your own privacy.

"but... but..... windows does teh very same exact thing... but WORSE!"
"therefore, i have no desire to protect my privacy at all :)"

great logic lol.
