What is the point in linking to a Nexon account?

As the topic says, what exactly is the point in linking to a Nexon account?
Is there anything in the game that requires linking to a Nexon account?

Crossplay. As crossplay becomes more and more popular it's going to be very common for games to be built around using an account system that can be accessed on multiple platforms.

I know you probably don't care about crossplay, I don't either, but that's the way things are going.

No.. well, kind of yes. It wouldn't make sense from a development point of view to stagger account storage. Everyone's progress is saved on a Nexon account. Even if you don't link a personal account, it's created one for you that is linked to your Steam account and it will continue to use that one if you don't link another. Only difference is that you have no control over that Nexon account, which might cause an issue for you if you decide to play another Nexon game in the future and do want to create/link a personal account for whatever reason or want to be able to use the same Nexon account for multiple games.

You also need to a create personal one and link it if you want to be able to claim promotional things like Twitch rewards.

Worth letting you know that if you link a personal Nexon account after playing a while you will lose your progress since you are basically deleting the previous Nexon account it had automatically created for you.

Essentially, yes. I have not played a Nexon game in years, but had an old account floating around that was deactivated years ago. Now I'm blocked from resetting my own password and had to create a support ticket through the portal of a game I have not played in... over 10 years or so. I literally stopped after choosing my first character thinking something like this would be the case.

Poorly coded and planned for game progression "migrations" that only require the company to have code in place to look for the higher-level game account to move over to the primary account? Yes. Would I play without linking the account first to make sure I have access as long as this game is supported? NO. I'm waiting until I get a reply to my ticket and either an account recovery or a suggestion to create a new account, but either way, I'm going to create my own personal account before going any further. To be fair, I only saw this game launched today and was excited about it, but oh well... other games I've liked over the years had some bad times at launch. *fingers crossed*

I just lost everything myself. I played for a few hours, purchased some Caliber and went to link my account to get my stupid Twitch drops...and now it's gone. All of the time and money I spent is just gone.

Knowing how Nexon support has been in the past 10 years since I've played one of their games...it won't be fixed. I'm just SOL and out the money. I guess I'll just dispute and charge back. The game was fun while it lasted.

Is Crossplay even confirmed? Or are you talking about game frontend platform crossplay rather than console and PC crossplay?

In response I too this, I too linked my Xbox account then started the game but had me start fresh. I then quit my game and unlinked my nexon account and had my original progression back. Just doesn’t make since why nexon is dumb and would do something like that, they need to take a look at how CDPR and the people that made Warframe do linked accounts and follow that algorithm. That or they should’ve informed the community to link the account right at the start of the game so the progression is saved on the account from then on and when linking to another platform that progression is already saved within the nexon account.

if you played before and then linked your account. unlink your account and it will revert back to the old progress. This worked for me through the steam launcher.

Not crossplay, cross PROGRESSION, completely different, You can already crossplay without linking the account, I was playing with people on Xbox and PS with no issues.

Simply delinking the link will get you all your progress back. I know this bc I did the same thing. And its not the big of a deal for me bc I can play Lepic on my ps5 while using Ajax (the one I already have to like level 20) on my PC for the guest account.

Unfortunately, not true for everyone. Unlinking did not give me my progress back. I had to go through support to get everything fixed. TFD support never even answered my ticket in 48 hours. I went through the Maple Story live chat support to get my account reverted. Ridiculous set of circumstances but it was fixed in the end.

As I literally said in the post above you, that didn't work. When I unlinked, I had a different user ID than before and my progress was still gone. That isn't a functional solution for everyone.
