Nexon has stolen money from their players
Nexon has been fined by the Korean FTC for deceptive business practices and violation of the Electronic Commerce Consumer Protection Act. They silently manipulated drop rates on gacha crates so players would never actually get the items they sought, essentially stealing approx. $574 million from their players. They were fined by the Korean FTC in 2011, 2018, and 2024. So just a heads up, they are not a trustworthy company and I think this information is worth considering if you are thinking about spending your money with them.

Yup. Do not spend money on this. Go f2p all the way until it eventually gets taken off steam for deception practices and then fined by FTC again within 3 months of launch.

go full f2p and none of this should bother you, because they won't have any of your money. :lunar2019piginablanket:

Aww... your first F2P game. Someday, you'll come to find they all do this. That's why they are F2P! "Welcome to the party, pal!"

Many people:
1) we didn't watch any developer streams or the banner and themes in the steam, which is coming out on July 2
2) Discussing the f2p game
3) Create similar topics instead of discussions in one
And judging by your own argument, you weren't even a bit interested in information either.

I never buy anything in a F2P game that involves random chance. I have spent money in F2P games before, but it is always for a guaranteed item.

In DFO, I spent money on avatar set packs that let you pick your stats. In Genshin Impact, I spent money on the Battle Passes to get the Black Sword. Neither one ever involved RNG, so I was never at risk of getting my money stolen. Every time I made a purchase, I got exactly what I was trying to get, period.

I can speak from experience that their gacha system became straight predatory around 2012. In my opinion, anyway.
I never did the gacha stuff on Maplestory. I would just buy cosmetics and store licenses to sell ♥♥♥♥ in the market. So, I can't really speak to the gacha items in that game.
Combat Arms wasn't too bad up until the end when they had you paying for premium chests for a CHANCE to get the item from it that you were after. Where before you could just buy the weapon/specialist you wanted with no gacha. Damn, I miss that game and my CBL staff-mates.
Vindictus was just plain predatory as ♥♥♥♥, what with their ♥♥♥♥ enchantment rates that would force you to buy premium items or gamble with gacha to get the item you wanted.

Its a valid concern and raises alot of questions about WHY they went f2p with this.. I personally don't intend on spending a dime until I see some proof that this is going to be worth it

Anytime we learn about a company engaging in nefarious business practices we should all make it a point to let others know so they don't get taken advantage of. As it stands right now these companies do not have any incentive to do the right thing because the fines they have to pay are a small percentage of the profits gained from the crimes they commit. If regulation/fines won't keep them in check it is up to the consumers to keep them in check. If we stay informed and refuse to buy in their only options would be to course correct or cease to exist.

i have no interest in giving nexon money myself.

I mean, just don't pay for gacha and ♥♥♥♥ that has odds, problem solved. What you mean to say is Nexon exploited people with gambling addictions.
