Is the TFD-Battle Pass a scam?

So apparently the cash shop has been leaked:

... and there´s a lot to process, but the ♥♥♥♥♥♥♥♥♥ thing i´ve seen is the problem that finishing the battle pass will (in its current state) NOT provide you with enough caliber to let you buy the next one.

This way we will ALWAYS have to pay to get the new battle pass, even IF we grinded the battle pass to completion.
This on its own could actually make or break this games future playerbase.

It´s a ♥♥♥♥♥♥ design. It´s scummy and quite frankly imho nothing else but a scam.

Nothing wrong with this, it's a f2p game either give them money or don't, I would say having descendants you can outright buy from the cashshop is worse. To think they would give you enough back to then get a free battlepass for the rest of your playthrough is somewhat entitled.

Oh, no. The company wants you to pay for a BP. No one in the room would have guessed.

If only you had used some basic maths, you would have realized your statement was incorrect. You have to pay for some of the BPs.

1st → Topping 520 - 500 BP price = 20 remaining
2nd → Topping 520 + 20 remnants + 300 reimbursement - 500 BP price = 340 remaining
3rd → Topping 520 + 340 remnants + 300 reimbursement - 500 BP price = 660 remaining
4th → Free BP + 660 remnants + 300 reimbursement - 500 BP price = 460 remaining
5th → Topping 520 + 460 remnants + 300 reimbursement - 500 BP price = 780 remaining
6th → Free BP + 780 remnants + 300 reimbursement - 500 BP price = 580 remaining
7th → Free BP + 580 remnants + 300 reimbursement - 500 BP price = 380 remaining

From the first to the seventh season, you pay for four and get three for free. If I were the devs, I would make people like you always pay the full price for skipping school as kids and being ignorant as adults.

The goodies in the BP are the reward, not the next one. If you do not like this business model, do not put money into the game. It is that simple.

No. Most of the playerbase will never care. The poor will continue not paying, and those who want to throw banknotes will do it.

Not sure, according to some sites daily quests and log in rewards. That was for beta though so no idea if it will be the same.

No, it's not a scam. Battle passes have long since been a premium only feature in many games.

And as long as you can unlock the characters through grinding, with paying just being a short cut, that is not a scam either.

$10 for a BP in a F2P game is fine for me even though I'd rather there be a F2P version and the $10 buys the premium. $10 every three months is worth the investment if you are enjoying the game. I learned a long time ago that if I like a game and want it to continue to be around than spending a little cash every now and than helps. Bought all the supporter packs that were available for DRG when I played to support them.

What worries me is the low drop chance of the potatoe. Nexon was sued for "Deceptive loot box practices" and I could easily see them doing the same thing with potatoe drop rates just to force a couple of poor souls into buying them. If I can't even farm one in a month I'll probably move on. Even one a month seems a little too rare for my tastes.

Fun > everything else in games.

Yes, they are premium features, however-

The quality of the Battle-pass dictates whether it's a scam or not, not the fact that it's a battle-pass to begin with.

For example: Apex's battle pass is a scam because it's terrible and not worth the 10 v-bucks you have to pay for it.

yes, at least during beta we weren't shown any way to obtain some that wasn't either
-a one time thing for test purpose (they gave use thousands in the last one)
-Obtained from something you had to buy (battle pass)

they talk about maybe adding trade like in warframe down the line but i wouldn't count on it this year

Honestly my main probleme with the battlepass is that from the one we were shown in beta, the content suck.

It doesn't matter. If I cannot complete a battle pass in a week of casually playing the game for 2-3 hours a day - I won't buy it. And TFD battle pass look like one of those second-job types I'm always skipping (i.e. Fortnite)

Remember you pay to unlock the "premium" BP access, but you still have to spend currency to either speed up the BP progress and then spend even more currency to claim the items... lol.

They removed that egregious system, as well as the paint gacha. They said so in the same announcement.

Really? I thought they only remove the battle coins for the additional layer of store that we didn't experience in the technical test... lol.
