Your question was moot for obvious reasons.
For now, either until we receive information of what the company is doing, or it turns out that the beta does have new monetization avenue in use. I can only say, we can only wait and see. I find it VERY unlikely that a large company would grow and learn from their mistakes, but, just like I wrote earlier, it's a wait and see situation. I will definitely take part in the beta to see what's going on.
This is good news. Those looked like major pay blocks.
Problem is, as I mentioned on the post, did they replace that monetization with something else? For now, I do not know what it is, and for now, we can only speculate. I know, I come off as negative but, with the way game industry was in the past and still is.
I propose to, everybody who thinks that I am too negative about this, a question. What comes on past events and things that have happened in gaming history, can you blame me for being skeptical?
Probably we'll see in the test.
Most likely just put the infrastructure ready for the beta, but, haven't given Valve green light on allowing people to actually download it.
The void keys when I saw them during beta screamed "speed bump". Thus preventing people from grinding things out. It also would "extend" the content.
Creating speed bumps are not wholly bad for a game of this style. It lacks content and having people get bored would be an issue. Pay gating those speed bumps would however be a huge issue.
Now we will see if they just removed the speed bumps because they think they have enough content or if they did in deed simply remove one to too place two or three others.
True, I don't mind the speed bumps now-a-days, as long as they are fair for both developers and players. I don't know whether you should call it paranoia though... Probably better word would be overly-skeptical or something else. In regards to whether they replaced the void keys with something else...
That is unfortunately a wait and see matter, until the technical test beta in late may, this is partially taking cues from Warframe, as the void key system was removed a VERY LONG TIME AGO, which was relatively similar system to the previously void keys of TFD. If they changed the void keys of TFD to series of missions where the last mission of, let's take as an example of 3.
Is the colossus boss fight where you get the chance for a descendant piece. The other two steps also have a chance to reward a descendant piece but, also other rewards. It probably would be interesting, even if it most likely ends up being relatively frustrating too. This is just speculation though, and nobody shouldn't take this too seriously.
