the season pass has weapons in it but there not mandatory .. the weapons we got to try in the beta's wernt overly impressive but was more like a bling bling look at me type
That said, from what we saw so far, there isn't anything to "worry" about. But things could change, and Nexon does not have the strongest reputation in the Western world. I don't trust them because I have played many of their games. And sometimes they severely drop the ball.
I still have no concerns with giving this game a fair try when it releases. The tech demo was promising. I'll wade in carefully and know better than to devote too much time. But I do feel that spending time on these products gives us the best view of how it works for us, individually. I'm not a fan of the uneducated, sheepish pack mentality approach many have these days.
If you are keen, you should be able to figure out what is going on for yourself with the most certainty when the game releases. Until then, it is informed speculation.
Lastly, the only people I've seen vocalize serious concern are those who are overly infatuated with the exact speed at which other players may progress. They are loud-spoken, often speaking in generalities, and use this game as a proxy for industry issues. We should not be triggered by the concept of monetization(as opposed the the actual, real-world impacts in our scenario). Unfortunately, many players are triggered at all times, making it difficult for them to ever accept the possibility that things are not dire.
TFD is a looter shooter, and from what I’ve seen in the beta, instead of grinding minions, you’ll be preparing everything to grind bosses, lol. The balancing in TFD seems good except for GLEY (she’s so OP). The enemy design isn’t very diverse, and their AI for minions is quite poor. (But that was a year ago; perhaps they’ve improved it over the past year.)
I foresee that they will actively monetize through cosmetics, skins, colors, etc... I haven’t seen anything affecting stats (it will be like D2). However, Nexon has a bad reputation, so we should be prepared for anything. It’s best to grind all the new releases as much as possible before those tricky guys pull some magic with drop/enchantment percentages.
First thing is, you can by the most important item in the game. That is the "Energy Activator". That item enhances the max number of modul-capacity for descendants and weapons. To grind this need a bit of time and cost a lot. That has to be removed from the shop.
Second thing is, you can buy Ultimate Descendants. To buy such Descendants, should be removed from shop, too. Even i don't know how impactful they really are.
Third thing is, to buy that item, where you can change a modulslot with a "rune" (i dont remember the name for that item), that should be removed from the shop as well (if you can buy it, i am not sure).
This 3 things are important and has to be removed from shop, because that is to intensive "pay to progress". All other things, are okay imho.
"Pay to Progress" and "Pay to not grind" items definitely straddle the grey area on what's consumer unfriendly in the MTX markets, and I'm personally not a fan of them.
Yeah every single review absolutely BASHED the recent tests for ultra-limited inventory space that filled up in minutes. Definitely going to be selling inventory space for an ultra-premium.
... aside from Descendant skins, but they looked damn good and not your average cheap western garbage... so can't complain.
Everything else was about the grind first and foremost but we can't be sure Nexon didn't change things meanwhile or isn't planning to... and I'm almost expecting them to, starting with things likes module/inv space.
Anyone can tell the game is not going to fund itself off of skins alone, so the question really is: What else does Nexon have in store for this game that we haven't been subjected to yet?
As for your question about gameplay accessibility... it's not a complex game by any means, aside from a basic grapling mechanic the rest if it is just your average shooter with overwatch-like abilities.
The movement isn't stiff nor is it bullet like as in Warframe so it'll feel very natural and grounded if you've played other shooters before.
The rest of the game's mechanics (void intercept bosses and the likes) were very conveniently explained (given the game's simplicity) but in typical eastern format you were often presented with short information dump windows as opposed to having the game guide you through the process of learning, which admitedly is an archaic design by western standards at this point but you'll quickly figure things out on your own regardless.
TLDR: Little to no paywalling back in OBT (expect things to change on release/later) and gameplay-wise it is super easy to get into and learn. (Difficulty was also in general quite forgiving)
