ammo drop. how the ammo drop system works?
Does anyone understand how the ammo drop system works?
I have two guns for purple ammo and one for white, so when I shoot the “white” one, green and orange ammo fall, but no purple ones fall at all. I shoot with the “purple” one - any kind of ammo fall, but not purple ones...
How the hell does it work?

that why there a mod that convert orange to purple when pickup, once every 120 sec tho
also ammo will not drop the type of killer weapon. if u use white to kill it will less or never drop white but u can see damn load of green and orange and quite some of purple
Never ever use more than one weapon for any given type of ammo. Once you finish all ammo from one weapon, other one is also empty. Play more Colossus fights and you will understand.
Purple ammo is a rare ammo, it rarely drops and I think 1 drop after 50 or so other ammo types. Just think of them as rarity tiers. Whites drop the most, orange, green and then purple. Everything is RNG.

Best to carry 3 weapons, where each use a different ammo, to avoid running out. You will also want different sets too in order to focus on voidwalkers weakness. E.g pierce, high impact, etc

As for reason why some people runs out of white ammo, don't spam fire. Do head shots and make sure aim is true. Getting a lot of ammo and with that slight rng doesn't mean infinite.

Just ask yourself why you are wanting to run 2 purple weapons and you'll have your answer, it's becayse they are a crazy powerful option, they are balanced by limiting how often you can use them.

Also, never run more than 1 of each ammo type.

I like running a hand cannon, lmg or AR then either a tactical rifle or a purple option, usually a cannon to give an aoe option.
Avoid using Purple ammo weapons. The weapons are not strong enough for how little ammo they get and how rare purple ammo drops are.

Instead, equip 3 different guns with different ammo types. White, Orange, and Green. Then when you get low on one ammo type, swap to one of the others.

It's because the developers believe the purple weapons are so strong that should have no ammo at all, so you don't use it. It's stupid, and a problem in this game. The idea is to use three different type weapons so you don't run out of ammo, and use the purple ones to fight boss, and boss only, nothing more. The thing is, yeah, the purple weapons are really powerful, but the lack of ammo is so strong that makes them completely useless, therefore there's no purpose in using them.

Enemies drop any type of weapon at any time, there's no thought on it, something other games already fixed, this game is using this issue as a feature. It's simple: You kill with a specific weapon, drop ammo for that weapon, OR make a specific type of enemy drop a specific type of ammo, that's it... Instead if you have random drops based on nothing, and highly reduced chance to drop ammo for purple.

Noice.

Purple weapons are useless and weak. Even a yellow rarity launcher wasn't one shotting most enemies, which would have made it worth it. Snipers are mostly useless since almost every encounter is mid to close range. Shotguns aren't terrible, but their low ammo makes them unusable.

They either need more ammo, or more damage, and shotguns should be moved to green ammo.

I already suggested how to fix this issue... By the way, an issue that other games already solved, it's like trying to find a cure for a disease that was eradicated decades ago:

01. Make enemies them drop more ammo and stop the "BeCaUsE tHeY aRe PoWeRfUl" stupid argument, this is a power fantasy game, it supposed to be powerful, instead they are useless because you have no ammo to use them with.

02. Make a mod that converts other types of ammo into a specific one, like in Warframe (YES, WARFRAME, A GAME WITH MORE THAN A DECADE OF EXPERIENCE ALREADY FIXED YOUR ♥♥♥♥, SO COPY THE ♥♥♥♥♥♥♥ FIX). For example, you collect ammo for white weapon, you gain +50% white ammo, and +50% purple ammo, or whatever they feel the conversion is better. It's the same, but instead of weapon type, it's ammo type:

https://warframe.fandom.com/wiki/Category:Ammo_Mutation_Mods
https://warframe.fandom.com/wiki/Shotgun_Ammo_Mutation (this is for Shotgun ammo)
The more I played this Beta the more I asked myself: "Why this NEEDS to be ♥♥♥♥ ?"

All the time I found something that has no purpose in being ♥♥♥♥ but the developers believing they are reinventing the wheel in a better way... But they aren't, NONE OF THE BAD FEATURES ARE NECESSARY, they can remove the bad features and make a great game, but they believe "it's unbalanced" or whatever is a reason to break things.

"Why the Grappling Hook is so short?" - So we can add a Mod to increase the range... - "Ok... Why the Grappling Hook mods need negative effect?"

"Why purple ammo is so scarce?" - Because the weapons are strong... - "Ok... Why they need to be useless since there's no ammo for them?"

"Why level design is so 'walking simulatory' and without purpose?"
"Why can't I teleport to an NPC instead of walking simulator to them all the time?"
"Why missions make me return to an NPC a lot of times?"
"Why lock our camera while NPC speaks? Let me be while it speaks."
"Why NPC speaks for so long time? Skip everything because YES."
"Why don't stack the exact same mods to make easier to know copies?"
"Why do I need to waste time by going one by one while Dismantle Mods?"
"Why there are so many of the same weapon instead of different mechanics?"
"Why 'quantity' instead of 'quality' on the weapons?"
"Why can't I do a mission to increase my MR instead of just playing an animation?"
"Why all enemies have the exact same response, just 'shoot them harder'?"

I could go on, but I feel it's better to make a suggestion to the devs directly via e-mail or contact than posting here.

...you have random drops based on nothing..

Yes, that's exactly how I see it. The ammo drop system is kind of strange. I see absolutely no logic in mobs dropping ammo.

If the developers actually intended the idea that “ammo fall on the type of weapon you are NOT shooting with” - well, if this is really the case - then this is a terrible idea. And I don't understand why the game forces me to use weapons that I DON'T want to use. However, I did not follow this logic: no matter what weapon I shoot, i see orange and green ammo, sometimes white.

Totally agree. Purple weapons are currently unusable. Need more ammo.

Not sure if you played any of the past betas, however from playing them its was very clear they wanted to "soft lock" features by forcing people to play the "whole game". In the past beta you could only increase mastery rank by gaining levels. This meant that once you maxed the level on a descendant you needed a new one in order to increase mastery rank. They've now changed that which is good.

This is very very common in hardcore korean games. If you've ever played korean MMORPG. They have whole systems designed to force you to have to use muti-chars. For example in black desert online. You can't do certain mission unless you have a second char. Further it doesn't matter what your first or second char is, just that its the second one.

This is mostly designed to extend/recycle content. As you basically have to play the whole story line twice in order to unlock everything. Clearly the games "suffers" from alot of this mind set. They want to force people to play the "whole game" instead of specializing in certain things. They do thankfully seem to be walking it back. As said above they changed mastery rank around and hopefully it stay with the current beta version and doesn't go back to the old system.
So... I heard that this game is 60% Warframe + 40% Destiny 2, since I already know Warframe I played Destiny 2 for 30-ish hours to learn about the game... And, yes, they are very similar, but at least I learned something... The third weapon, the "purple ammo" weapon is suppose to be extremely strong, only usable to fight a boss or something, but the difference is that Destiny 2 there's no ranking system, just the gear level of the weapon.

How are we suppose to rank up our weapon's type by using sporadically against high priority targets? The "white ammo" weapons are used all the time, thus you gain experience all the time with them, but you won't use the "purple ammo" so often... Unless you can share XP like Warframe (killing with one gear shares XP between all gears) the rate between ranking up a white ammo vs a purple ammo would be stupid.

IIRC from crossed beta, just holding the weapon give it exp from kill even without using it, so you could use a spell base unit (bunny, valby etc ...) while holding your purple weapon. or might have been shared exp directly. anyway i was able to level up my weapon from the defence mission without ever shooting (thanks bunny)
