APS turrets in power shift.
I'd like to start by saying powershift is SIGNIFICANTLY better than the other 2 game modes and will probably never play the other 2 modes again. But something has become very apparent. Once you set up on the point it is very hard for the opponents to push you off the point and regain control which leads to a lot of steam rolling and the biggest offender for this is APS turrets. The fact you can have 2 aps turrets on the moving platform in powershift and cancel out any explosive damage or ordinance is insane especially when most the time you cant hit them because of heavy's shields and barricades.
I think the best solution is to just make APS turret taller so you don't have to engage the platform to kill them and that way you don't touch their effectiveness against ordinances or make them so squishy they die to a single LH1 shot that way they still are seen as a competitive option.

I think they simply need to lower its health drastically, aps should be hidden away but its almost entirely in the open every time but you need to waste an entire magazine to kill a single one.

Or...take one heavy-loadout (you have one, right......right?) with slam. Pound that boat and APS (it has less than 150 hp) like it's your serious other and go to town on the passengers. Take flamethrower, sledge, or any shotgun for close up and personal.

If one heavy doesn't suffice, take two...or three.

Or...take a light-loadout with sniper and glitchgrenade. Burst shields with nades on the fringes and snipe that ♥♥♥♥♥♥♥♥♥♥♥♥ (APS) like it owes you money.

Or...you get the point.

You can always change classes, loadouts, specials, gadgets and weapons.

Get creative, adapt and coordinate. There is always another way.

And don't forget to have fun. ;)

Bonus: Mediums CL40-splashradius is bigger than the APS-radius. Two shots just outside of it, done. Enjoy!

Some tools need to be locked or limited in this mode as it is not a "mobile" battle like the other 2 modes but most of a specific place to battle in.

APS should be limited to 1 for squad

Turrets are fine they can be outranged or completely take from flanks or behind

Sniper should be locked away. It's a ♥♥♥♥♥ weapon, this is about "power shifting" with constant assaults, not hiding in a corner and snipe doing nothing for your team. That weapon in THIS mode is a cancer for both attacking and defending team.

most of this is very naive and wrong. You cant slam on it without getting shot at by 5 people and dying instantly, you cant coordianate that many people to do something and you cant shoot the aps turrets with a sniper without return fire or having barricades dome/mesh shields in the way. I promise it needs a nerf there is no solution to it. glitch nades dont work against aps turrets btw they still get destroyed even if u plant one perfectly it doesnt permanently disable them and they come back quick getting into position to do anything like that too probably means your dead they straight up just need a nerf
Blazer Wifle Mar 17, 2024 @ 7:00pm
You just jump pad slam on the plattform to clear it from APS or throw glitch grenades in the general direction so they disable APS. Mine constantly get disabled by glitch nades. Jumping on the plattform afterwards and using the Reshaper also works pretty well.
On first sight it seems like a total neckbreaker but it isnt.
Playing with randoms its a impossible task tho.

um...shoot APS? They have bugger all health. If in doubt, send the light boys down as suicide bait to slash them to death and then rain grenades.

I speak from personal experience. I did all this (in random as a solo). So nothing "very naive and wrong" about it.

Yes, you gonna die often. You push it, open up their defenses, so your other teammates can capitalize on it. Play as a team. Sacrifice and honor the sacrifices of your teammates. It IS possible. Just not with standing around, twiddling your thumbs and expecting to get the boat scot-free with tactics YOU think should work, but don't. Try different tactics and overcome. The tools are there. Learn to use them.

Good luck!

or instead of ♥♥♥♥♥♥♥♥ about it, you could just shoot those APS turrets down, they have 100HP :3

How about instead of limiting/restricting gadgets, weapons,, etc. Create a vote to ban poll that takes place at the before the match starts. 15 seconds to vote, 10 seconds to change you load out if something you had equipped voted to be banned. This would be wonderful for ALL the game modes. Voting would take place BEFORE you know what the enemy teams characters are. For tournaments there would be one vote before the first round, and whatever is voted on by the lobby will remain banned for duration of the tournament

Before Embark implements my brilliant idea, here is an effective workaround for the issue regaining control of the platform when the other team has control and multiple APS turrets....

They let you change anything about your character on the fly. Main a medium with APS. If and when they take the platform, change to a heavy with goo gun or charge slam, flamethrower, dome shield, barricades, and gravity cube.
Goo all over the platform (giggity). Throw dome shield on platform, put up a barricade or 2 up if you have time. And start torching them. You will most likely die in this process, but not without taking out at least 3 if not all of them. Then while you are dead, switch back to your main that has APS.

The only thing that needs to change about the APS is the ammo count: there should be a limit to how many projectiles it can eliminate before being overwhelmed.

It'd also be nice if they fixed the bug where it shoots through walls.

I think you're on to something here with the ammo count. The regular turret should have a max ammo count as well
MMMiracles Mar 18, 2024 @ 9:19am
people get mad at a single light existing when i'm just sitting on roofs specifically targeting APS/turrets so everyone else can grenade/RPG spam the platform freely.

bring glitch grenades as well so you can lob them on after popping the APS so they can't attempt another setup and hope the 4 other people take advantage.
Vanta Mar 18, 2024 @ 10:30am
The problem is when it's four mediums, all running APS, with four different APS on the platform and four turrets.

You can't take it, they have the equivalent of 8 guns on the platform, and you can't nade them out.

I vote there should be a maximum of two APS capable of being mounted to the platform

yeah it could just be like Jager's ADS in R6S where it only shoots out up to 3-4 projectiles.

i hate this line of thinking. it makes player lazy; don't like something? just ban it, don't learn how to play around it!

it removes all of the complexity and skill in a game to just turn it into braindead fun where there's no strategy and no difficulty.

play to improve, people. use your brains sometimes! it still remains fun :)
