Is the Battlepass permanent or temporary?

So, like many modern games, The Finals has a Battlepass, which I find unengaging. I tend to drop games on a whim, and I don't like the idea of dropping money on a game and being forced to play it more to get my items for a theme I may not even care about.

Does the Battlepass work like Chivalry 2, Dead by Daylight or Halo Infinite, where you can return to it at any time even once the new one is out? If not, I'll probably content myself solely with Store items for cosmetics, since its a one-time purchase that will be there if I take a break and return several months later.

Afaik if the Season ends, it's gone, it won't stay.
But you have 96 days and you amount 1.575 Coins, wich would be enough to buy the new battle pass each time you reach around lvl 70~ (for the 1.000)

The time it's available for is irrelevant, since I tend to drop games pretty much at random. There's no way I'll be actively playing the game 96 days from now. I guess I'll content myself with store cosmetics.

That depends - main source is daily and weekly contracts for sure - just playing is very slow, yes.

I was comparing it to sea of thieves, and its way easier to get it there, then again the type of games matter i guess
