I do agree that much of this game feels like it was churned out by AI. Even the levels are incredibly soulless, with a bunch of copy--paste interiors and multi-level skyscrapers. There aren't any awesome setpieces to fight over, or memorable areas. It's mostly stuff that feels like the result of an algorithm, rather than creative thinking on behalf of a talented level designer.
The blue grid dimension is pretty obvious they are making that "corporate game show generated stage" hunger games, unless you guys want a whole skyrim NPC experience in the maps I don't really get what you mean by "soulless"
i've never played a game that felt "soulless" so i still don't fully understand what people mean by it, but some of the worst games i've played are just so broken it becomes useless to try (like Ark), or are so boring that i don't understand the hype behind them (like Skyrim).
but The Finals isn't like that. It's got great combat, sound design, map design, and a framing device i'd never seen used before (although i know it's been done, i just haven't heard of and/or played any games that used the "you're actually in a game" concept before).
i think it's just people who don't like the game denying it by making up excuses. That happens quite often (hell, i used to be do the same thing) and it's one of the few things that annoys me on a very specific level - knowing that it's just a cognitive bias but still wanting people to just go "yeah, this isn't my type of game but [insert things] are good about it. I've played several games like that but have still left positive reviews just because i could tell it'd be a great game if you're into the genre (Scrap Mechanic and Stardew Valley being my main examples).
OW will literally ban you if you emote the 'wrong' way or use voice chat too much, CSGO is just boring and repetitive, and Siege is just csgo but with 5 destructible walls in the entire game.
Is a common issue with the general consumer base, when they know nuts about programming or creating assets and concepts
There are people who actually think you can just type "Make me a soulless shooter game" and chatgpt straight up creates 1 just like that.
This game is like the equivalent of fast food. It's okay but I was just left a bit confused by how corporate it feels. Maybe some of you are too young, but games used to not feel like this. The fact that the UI and monetization is so copy-pasted is something I can't get past. Also feels like it'll be an E-sports bait game.

It doesnt mean you cant criticize but it definitely drops the validity by alot if you don't understand the thought and process that went into it. Especially when it is also barely constructive feedback despite the glaring differences
I don't consider it to be exactly soulless, but isn't this the case with just about every modern non-indie game released today? Everything, and I mean everything non-indie, is released according to some corporate aim to seize upon a trend.
If this game didn't run so well, look so good, and generally come together quite nicely, yeah, I might call it soulless. But as it is, I think it's a good start, a good foundation for what could become a fantastic game.
