I had many successful solo raids. Map knowledge is the key, you need to know where to look at, when you can lower your guard, where are the spawns and extracts, what are the usual paths and POIs.
When in the open make sure you're always on meds so you can always break off and run away. And if you decide to engage with enemies be sure to be constantly on the move and flanking. There are no tight indoor spaces and there is no friendly fire like in Tarkov, but proper team communication is a rare skill and if you can confuse them you have a really good chance.
If you queued up solo, and enable auto-team, you aren't guaranteed to have people speaking the same language or even grouped up together.
What really happens if you end up in a solo vs squads is they pull up and kill you within 10 seconds of spawning because of the advantages of the headsets and the close spawns. By not queuing with a premade squad you are choosing to play metal gear solid and hiding in a dark corner or bush till its time to extract.
I'd prefer to stay in the queue for as long it takes to get full squad even if it takes forever rather than being forced to play solo with no way out. I think it would make much more sense.
One thing that is particularly annoying is the fact that if you try to game the system and back out after certain amount of seconds you have to pay the fee every time you queue up, regardless if you actually found the game or not. I'm pretty sure that's an oversight and will be fixed soon.
However, I hardly disagree that the game is not playable in solo.
Tarkov is and so is this game. You just have to approach things differently.
